I took my battery on the Wii out to have a look at the size of it, and now my wiiconnect24 channels don't update such as Everybody Votes, and forecast.  The internet browser still works, and shop channel, but not the channels that download through wiiconnect24... any ideas on how to fix this without formatting the wii and losing the rights to redownload games I have already got?

You took your battery out of your Wii? Like you took your Wii apart?

Well if you did take apart your Wii you voided the warranty, which means you're competely screwed unless you figure out what your doing.

Why not:

1.) Buy an SD Card, and save all your saved data onto it, bar the channels.

2.) Get your Wii fixed or buy a new one.

3.) Get your SD Card, put it into your new/fixed Wii.

4.) Copy the data on the SD Card onto the Wii.

5.) Re-download the Channels.

6.)Voila!

Did you set the proper date and time? They would get reset when the battery is taken out and having a date that far in the past would probably screw up both those channels.

Clear your internet settings, put them back in again, and make sure wiiconnect24 is on and standby mode is on. Turn it off for a few minutes to see if wireless server connects to it. And turn the wii back on and go to the channels.
