Exclusive Pokemon Event - March 8 - 21st - Unlocks Extra Content In Platinum

If you're thinking about getting Pokemon Platinum in the future this is important information.

Toys R Us will be doing an exclusive Pokemon event for March 8th to March 21st
The Pokemon you will get is Regigigas

He will be level 100, come from a cherish ball, have a Custap berry, and know the following moves...

• Iron Head
• Rock Slide
• Icy Wind
• Crush Grip

That's not the important part though.
The important part is that with this Regigigas you will able to access locked content in Platinum to obtain 3 legendaries.

Another important note is that just not ANY Regigigas is needed to unlock the content. It MUST BE the Regigigas downloaded from Toys R Us at this Pokemon event. If you do not get the Regigigas from this event you will be unable to unlock the content in Platinum.

HOW TO GET REGIGIGAS:

Simply bring your DS and a copy of the North American version of Diamond or Pearl to a Toys R Us location. Inside you'll see a sign that gives you step by step instructions on how to download Regigigas to your game. Also note you must have received your Pokedex in the game in order to get him (don't worry you get it in the first 15 mins)

I will post the official instructions from Toys R Us when it arrives. This is what I can find for now from the Pokemon site.

If you live out of North America there's still hope. You can be on the lookout for someone that went to the event and trade for their Pokemon in case they have 2

The new Pokemon center upgrades will hopefully make it even easier for you

The event date seems to be from 03/08 to 03/21... and pokemon platinum launches at 03/22...

Why it's stupid? Because there are some people who skipped pokemon diamond/pearl and are waiting for platinum to come out, and now they will miss the event that is solely intended to pokemon D/P but could be added to pokemon platinum if they put +1 week to the event.

It's like they are taunting those people, like this: "if you want regigigas, buy Diamond/Pearl one week before platinum comes out".

Unless regigigas can be caught on pokemon platinum, but i don't ever heard of this.

This happens the two weeks leading to the launch which means they get people into the stores to look over the games, see the promotional material for Pokemon, and maybe even preorder Platinum.

It also makes people pick up and start playing their Diamond or Pearl if they've had it away since last month (at that event)

It also makes people grab a copy or Diamond or Pearl if they already haven't in order to get everything in Platinum. Since you only need to play the game for 15 mins to be able to download Regigigas anyone who grabs a copy of each can get him first thing.

This is brilliant marketing by Nintendo

It gets everyone into the store and rewards people who follow the franchise with extra content.

i might go and get this pokemon but i all ready have one what am i going to do with to of the same pokemon:twisted:

i just mean that its ok if an item gets you special content like they did with those passes for the ship in the gba games and stuff liek that, but why make it so you need a download version of a pokemon thats already in the games? i just figured they'd make another item for it or somethin like the other times. i had no idea other event pokemon were needed to get anything else before

I'm definitely going to do this. By no means am I an experienced Pokemon player but all of this hype around Platinum made me start Diamond over and actually play it more than an hour.

From Sunday the Eighth till saturday the 14th in February they were giving away free shaymins at Toy's R Us. I know I got mine. Impish nature bleah! :cry:
