A while back Monster Hunter producer, Ryozo Tsujimoto, said:

"The 3DS is releasing, too, so I think the right time to switch to the new hardware that is coming as well."

Source

It has been rumoured that "Monster Hunter" will be out on the 3DS even before its launch, and has now been confirmed by an employee who works for a company which translates games from Japanese into English. "Monster Hunter 3DS" does exist and it was originally to be announced on 13th of March in the Fukuoka conference and the "Monster Hunter Festa 11″ in many other places

But we all know that these events have been cancelled due to the recent earthquake. However, as the famous producer Yoshinori Ono has admitted that there will be many new game launches on the 3DS in the future, those who hope Monster Hunter to be on the 3DS can be looking forward to hearing this new game from the Capcom Captivate 2011 next month."

I haven't played since the second one on PSP. I'd buy it, though. Especially if it had online. *crosses fingers*

YAY!

I never played any of them for any system, but hopefully it controls well on a handheld.

Expect the score to bomb due to horrible camera control. If I had to choose to get Monster Hunter on 3DS or the NGP, I'd go NGP. Monster Hunter Tri has prove to me that second analog is massively better for playing the game than not having one. (I'm not deliberately trying to hate, but it's my honest opinion).

Samurai Warrior Chronicles controls just fine despite the lack of a second analog stick for camera control as do a number of Wii games.

Honestly, people, a second analog stick is vastly overrated. If a game plays poorly then it's because of poor game design and not because of a hardware limitation.

Take the touchscreen in mind, with it they can map item actions on it, making space in the facebuttons and leaving the shoulder buttons for camera control.

Something that works fine and something that works great are two completely different things. The camera controls on Monster Hunter Freedom Unite worked fine, yet plenty of people still complained about them day in and day out (including reviewers), and in the end of the day, better is better (which a second analog stick is).

Also hardware limitations can in fact make a game play poorly. Try mapping every action in Street Fighter IV on an NES controller and tell me that hardware wasn't the issue.

If this ends up being true (and we will know soon because i believe Capcom Captivate is on wedesday) this would absolutly make my purchase of the 3DS the best piece of Hardware I have ever bought on day one. About the camera thing, I think this will be 1000 times better than the psp version because they could map a couple things to the touch screen which would leave more room for the camera specifically the L and R to more the camera left and right.

^ I would say it has a good shot, Capcom was boasting about it's strategies in the west for series like these a while back

My first Monster Hunter game was Tri on the Wii and I absolutely loved it.

It would be great to see an MH game make it to 3DS. :D

Oh, stop playing semantics.

By "fine" I mean that the lack of a second analog stick doesn't hinder the gameplay in any way. My point being that it's possible to design a well-playing game without a second analog stick so long as its designed properly, and part of proper game design is to take the hardware features into consideration. If a game controls poorly then it's not a hardware problem., it's because it was designed poorly.

I want a second stick for FPS's as much as anything. I agree that most games can suffice with one but at the same time a lot of PSP games suffered from it.

And no, the touchscreen does not compare.

I agree. When it comes to FPS games, touchscreen control is superior to a second analog stick. :D

I see what you did there! To each their own but I'd like the option of using a second analog stick at least.

Here's hoping this is true and it is coming to 3DS.

Monster Hunter is an amazing series, the first one I ever played was Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii and I really enjoyed it. But because of certain people in the Wii Forums which I won't list here, the game/experience was pretty much ruined for me. But I've been wanting to get back into Monster Hunter for a while now, and if Monster Hunter 3DS is coming I'll definitly get it. It'll be nice to start over and hopefully make new friends to play with.
