I brought Tetris DS the other day and when it arrived, I discovered it was a fake. The Nintendo seal had a slightly different font, the photos in the manual were copied from IGN, the manual itself was abysmal with spelling mistakes, one instance of 'ass' (in a E rated manual, yeah right) and overall no index. The cover was quite blurry, which means it must have been photocopied right? The cover was American, but the case was European, meaning it didn't fit nicely. And last but not least, the cartridge doesn't work. I got it off eBay, so what should I do with the seller?

Contact the seller. Don't be confrontational, but make it clear that you know it's fake. Bootleg sellers want to stay under the radar, so they like to avoid drama. He may offer you a refund. Don't leave feedback yet and don't mention it. If he offers a refund in exchange for positive feedback, don't do it. Assuming you paid with PayPal within the last 45 days you have the upper hand.

If you did pay with PayPal and the seller doesn't issue a full refund you can open a dispute with them. Login to your PayPal account and find the resolution center. You can initiate an 'Item not as described' dispute there. One of the reasons you'll be able to choose is fake/counterfeit. PayPal has pretty strong buyer protection and you would almost certainly win. You would be refunded the full purchase price plus shipping, but would have to send the game back with delivery confirmation at your expense.

I just went through this process recently with a fake DS game from eBay. Took a while, but I got my money back. If you have any questions, post 'em here or feel free to PM me.

Good luck!

Don't alter or damage the game in any way until the issue is resolved. I've heard that in the case of counterfeit items PayPal sometimes asks you to send the item to them so they can inspect it, and so the seller doesn't get it back to resell.

If the seller issues a full refund without asking for the game back then yes, destroy it.

If you got it on eBay, contact the seller, and if they don't refund your money, either:

A) E-Pimp Slap em'.

or

B) Contact eBay and they will E-Pimp Slap em' for you.

i was in bali last year and you can get ds carts in a big department store there with about 20 games on them for 85000000 rupiah about $100 australian, its obvious they are knock offs, you just have to be careful when you buy stuff online i guess
