Does that mean Wii games are playable on the gamepad (seems to good to be real)? My install is only 40% so I haven't got to try anything. I really wanted folders and didn't see that on the list.
Yes you can view them on the gamepad but still need the Wii controllers sadly.OreoMilkshakeWeird. But I guess it's a start.

Yeah it actually looks really good. I keep trying to use the touch screen though for buttons. Lol. Â That was a surprising feature. There aren't any folders as far as I can tell. :(

there is a drawback to playing the wii from the gamepad...
your tv has to be on for the wii menu to open....but you can turn it off after it loads.
so now we can have off tv play on the wii :) ...but the tv has to be on for a few seconds while wii menu loads so its not perfect :P

Thankfully, that's false. Boot up the Wii menu with the B button as soon as you turn on the console. The first time you do this will ask you to point at the TV, but any session after that I was able to boot up the Wii Menu without the need of a TV. I am in love with this feature. Kudos Nintendo.

not if you turn off the system right? i have to do it everytime i turn off my wiiu.
This update makes the re-releases of VC games completely unnecessary. You can now play all those and Wiiware games on the gamepad, and that's basically all that matters. All that's missing is a miiverse community and gamepad controls but I can easily ignore those.

If you didn't know, turn on the Wii U console and hold the B button. It will boot up the Wii Menu instead of the Wii U menu. The first boot will ask you to point at the TV. Do as the TV says and proceed to the Wii menu. Turn off the console and turn it back on while holding the B button again. It will bring you straight to the Wii Menu with the gamepad functioning as the screen. Works for me everytime.

Yeah, I tried again with the HDMI out this time and I'm getting the same thing. That's a shame. It still worked when the TV was off though.

not for me...even if its faded(pointing at the tv instead of gamepad) i press try again and it wont work until i turn the tv on.
are you using hdmi on wiiU?
Holding B on gamepad takes me straight to Wii mode and yes I'm on HDMI.achilles614Mine works about half the time. Not sure if there's a particular reason or if it's a glitch.

Sexy. Gamepad speakers sound great as well.OreoMilkshake
So tempted to start playing through Xenoblade Chronicles again now :) It looks gorgeous running in its native resolution. I really hope Ninty work out how to allow games which support the classic controller to use the Gamepad buttons.
