Does that mean Wii games are playable on the gamepad (seems to good to be real)? My install is only 40% so I haven't got to try anything. I really wanted folders and didn't see that on the list.

Yeah it actually looks really good. I keep trying to use the touch screen though for buttons. Lol.  That was a surprising feature. There aren't any folders as far as I can tell. :(

there is a drawback to playing the wii from the gamepad...

your tv has to be on for the wii menu to open....but you can turn it off after it loads.

so now we can have off tv play on the wii :) ...but the tv has to be on for a few seconds while wii menu loads so its not perfect :P

Thankfully, that's false. Boot up the Wii menu with the B button as soon as you turn on the console. The first time you do this will ask you to point at the TV, but any session after that I was able to boot up the Wii Menu without the need of a TV. I am in love with this feature. Kudos Nintendo.

This update makes the re-releases of VC games completely unnecessary. You can now play all those and Wiiware games on the gamepad, and that's basically all that matters. All that's missing is a miiverse community and gamepad controls but I can easily ignore those.

If you didn't know, turn on the Wii U console and hold the B button. It will boot up the Wii Menu instead of the Wii U menu. The first boot will ask you to point at the TV. Do as the TV says and proceed to the Wii menu. Turn off the console and turn it back on while holding the B button again. It will bring you straight to the Wii Menu with the gamepad functioning as the screen. Works for me everytime.

i tried that..holding the b button and stuff... everytime i try and go to the wii menu by holding b with the tv off it says "the wii menu could not be opened" "the wiiU screen will need to be displayed on the tv until the wii menu opens" i turn on the tv press try again then it loads....i tun off my wiiu and try holding down b again and it asks the same thing again.

Yeah, I tried again with the HDMI out this time and I'm getting the same thing. That's a shame. It still worked when the TV was off though.

Mine works about half the time. Not sure if there's a particular reason or if it's a glitch.

i guess the format on the gamepad (4:3) is the correct one, maybe TxTech has some fit to screen option activated in his tv settings.

So tempted to start playing through Xenoblade Chronicles again now :) It looks gorgeous running in its native resolution. I really hope Ninty work out how to allow games which support the classic controller to use the Gamepad buttons.
