Metroid Prime imo. I have only played Super Metroid and the Prime trilogy though. The only one I feel I'm really missing out on is Fusion.

My favorite will likely always remain Metroid Prime.  Absolutely ground-breaking game.  One of the all-time greats.

first impression of it i cant say i was all that down with metroid. (super metroid) after really understand the value of and amassing appreciation for videogames my attitude toward the series has changed. these days i tend to squirrel away any game in the series like treasure. though i probably dont play often, much the same for most games. the one that i found myself more impressed with right off the bat than any of the others was fusion. the one ive played the most is prime.

Metroid has always been one of my favorite series ever since I played the first one on NES. After the mess that was OtherM I hope Nintendo can bring the series back to what it once was. I really hope they don't neglect all of us Metroid fans and shelve the series like they did with Star Fox.

I love the Prime Series but Super Metroid is my favorite.

My second choice would be Prime 2.

Fusion.

Prefer the 2D ones over the 3D/first-person ones.

Prime, specifically the enhanced Wii version. After that I couldn't say, I've played all games in the series but have only ever beaten the Prime trilogy.

a bit off topic but check this idea:

A Metroid MMO for the Wii U, everyone get's to be a Samus like player exploring the vastness of space, doing the bounty hunter thing, buying armor upgrades, finding sweet hidden treasures, etc..

I've only played the Prime Trilogy and Other M. My favorite would've been Prime 2 if it wasn't for the few irritating boss battles *cough*SpiderBallGuardian*cough*. So its kinda between Prime 1 and Prime 3 for me. Not sure which I like better..

Why? Other M was a bunch of wasted potential.

Nintendo needs to make a new Metroid game like the Prime trilogy.

From a game perspective it felt like a love letter to Metroid and Super Metroid which are the two other Metroid games I have played. On a personal level it was released around the same time that my youngest son was born two months premature. He spent the first three weeks of his life in an NICU. As a father I felt completely helpless. There was nothing I could do to make him well. Playing Other M gave me a sense of control in a situation where I did not have any and I got the feeling that if I beat the game my son would be alright. It will always be my sentimental favorite. We even nicknamed my youngest son (whose name is Matthias) Other M.

Zero Mission. It takes the simplicity of the first game and adds another layer of complexity that turns it into a technical masterpiece. Getting 100% in that game shows just how brilliantly the level design works with the mechanics.

Metroid Prime is number two. No other game has so perfectly translated a 2D formula into 3D, and it added a far superior combat system. But it's lacking the skill-based aspect of shinesparking that Zero Mission uses so well.

And I'll throw Other M out there for having one of the funnest combat systems in any action game I've played. Too bad they flubbed the classic Metroid parts.

Metroid Prime 3 Corruption, which was the first Metroid game I bought. I haven't played many games from this series yet.

Metroid Prime 1-3 are the best. Some say the old side scrolling Metroids but Prime blows almost any other game out there out of the water lol.

1. Super metroid 2. Prime 1 or 3 are equal IMO. 3. Metroid 2, return of samus. 4. Other m. Hey, despite terrible voice acting, it's a good game. More action then metroid, but I loved it. 100%/0%.

Metroid Prime, followed by Metroid Zero Mission. I wish new Metroids would follow the Super M/Zero Mission/Fusion level design. All mentioned games have excellent replay value.

I was wondering where Metroid would show up on the list. I was too lazy to go through it myself.

All three made the cut.  But Metroid Prime was 12, Metroid Prime 2 is in the 60's and Metroid Prime 3 is in the 40's.  I'd switch 2 and 3's positions though.

Metroid Prime and Super Metroid. They are basically the same game, the other is just in 3D.
