What does using a friends code even do for this game? (bought it a couple years ago, but I just started to really play it)

Basically, sharing friend codes allows you to send mail to one another over Mognet. This may seem like a trivial aspect of the game, but there are actually several side quests that players can only unlock by sending letters to one another using this feature. By completing these quests the player can receive some of the best equipment in the game as well as a hidden job class, the Onion Knight.

Yeah, its worth the $10-$15. :) Its fun with the arranged soundtracks (boss battle is great!), Trying to unlock the Onion Knight class (like these guys are doing ;) ), and a secret boss you have to find and explore. If you loved the original, this is icing on the cake. :D

You do realize this isn't the american 3 being discussed, right?The FF3 that was released on DS wasn't actually released for the SNES in North America.

Jester: In order for the friend codes to turn white (I'm guessing that's what your problem is) both people have to enter each other's FCs AND go to Moghouse and select "Faraway Friends" - this registers the FCs for both sides so the servers know you know each other. Near as I can tell you only have to do this once after entering a bunch of FCs, and again anytime you add new ones. But if both sides don't do the Moghouse thing, they're just numbers on your DS.
I added the two people above me. If you add me and check for mail at the moghouse (I think) we should be good to go! If any of you other people in the thread want to add me, I'll add you back, just post letting me know or else I will not know to add you. I'll probably keep checking this thread for a couple weeks or so. My code is: 1 6 7 9 0 7 1 8 8 1 2 6 Thanks to whoever does it. I will be happy :P
Just learned about the whole message 7 friends to do side-quests thing. My FC: 0218 7878 5009 Because we can only send mail to people who have our friend code, too.
