What im asking is what will be the "goldeneye" of the wii... Great campaign, great multiplayer and a classic that years down the road we'll still be talking about and will still be a blast to play.

Probably Metroid Prime 3. Anyway, almost nothing has been as groundbreaking as Goldeneye was on the N64 so if such a game even exists, it hasn't been released yet.
My guess would be it's a game we haven't heard about yet.mac906
When you say that do you mean that there will be one just not yet announced or do you mean that that there isnt one announced yet and who knows if there ever will be one. The gamecube didnt really have one that is coming to mind, the wii needs one.

but we have been talking about goldeneye for 4 years longer. are we still talking about the original super smash bros.?
uh lets see, PRIME 3! if it is as good as its reviews and assumptions, it will be monumental. i have no doubt this game will be the revolution we have been looking for, or at least its start

but melee was wayyyyy better its ways total upgrade, but yea ima agree SSBB
Ugh I am going to have to say no to SSBB and it looks like I am going to be the first. What is so great about any SSBB game ever made that kept us talking about them? Yes they are fun games but NOT ground breaking.
well... I can't decide, as of right now I think MP3 would fit the bill 'cause it is a FPS/FPA. but it has no multiplayer. So then I would say SSBB.KAL_MAN
Metroid has not multi player wtf? when did this happen im not buying it now. I agree that it will be SSBB. Or Golden eye could be the golden eye of the wii if it ever comes to the VC.
Imo, goldeneye isnt the right choice for the title and is not the greatest game(Milestone) for n64, my vote goes to mario 64 or Banjo-kazooie. Banjo might be the best game rare and n64 ever got. but for wii, "itll be 1 of the big 3
GE007 for N64 was amazing because it showed that a particular genre (FPS) could be done very well on a control system that was thought to be gimped compared to what the PC offered.
if you applied this reasoning for all genres, i think that the Wii equivalent would be Warioware and Wii sports, since it showed that party games and sports games could be done very well compared to the KB+M and gamepads that we are use to playing these genres on.
maybe MP3 can do the same with the FPS genre, although the fact that MP3 is not a true FPS kinda stops it from being the defining game for the genre.
It sounds like Battalion Wars 2 could best fit this category's shoes. Smash Bros will (most likely) have excellent multiplayer, but won't do as hot in single player (maybe). Metroid Prime 3 is shaping up to have a great campaign, but has no multiplayer, although you shouldn't not buy the game just because of that.
From the way it sounds, Battalion Wars had a great campaign, and with newly added multiplayer, it could be one of the few great Wii games, provided the developers don't screw it up somehow.

Not true at all.
Bungie is famous mainly for the Halo series. As much as you would hate to believe it, Halo isn't that ground-breaking a series. And the name Rare is just about the only thing that remains of the real Rare dev team.
As for the revolutionary game? I'm not sure. SSBB will probably be the definative multiplayer game, but I don't have expectations for the single player mode beyond SSBM. Which is fine for me, but I wouldn't consider it a killer single player. Maybe BWii will be the grand game for the Wii. It certainly looks like it'll have interesting single and multi -player modes... and I just noted the Wifi symbol on the boxart, so there's a good sign there too ^.^
