w00t, I gots my import copy in the mail today. It is in Japanese for the most part and I cannot understand a word but I can safely say that the game is a lot of fun and easy to get into, I doubt you need the translations for anything other then the story. The gameplay is simplistic and freestyle instead of turn based,I have not figured out how to use magic yet, but you only play as your main character but during each stage you are usually joined by partners. The graphics are nice, however it looks like the characters were just placed into the level and dont really blend with the design. There is some excellent CGI footage in the game though and the music is great. I can't wait for it to come out here, too bad it might not be out in English till next year. Dang though, Square Enix now needs to translate 3 DS games that I want to get in English, Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced 2, Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker and FF12: RW. Still though, if you dont mind the Japanese part of importing, I highly suggest you get your hands on a copy.

Why didn't you just wait for the translated version? I'm not sure what the point of buying a game that you can't undesrstand is, especially an RPG.

Yeah importing when you can't read the language is rather a strange one but not uncommon.

It's fine when you don't expect the game to ever come to your country of choice, but when a translated version is on it's way, importing seems downright dumb.

Some people just don't have patience. Wait for the translated version. You're not gonna understand squat with an rpg thats all a different language.

Use the FAQ, it has most non-story related things translated. And just click on the char, click on the icon in the bottom left corner and you can use the persons skills. There was a whole tutorial that explained it.

Same here, plus it probrably makes the game itself a little easier as well.

For those that dont know, Square said that the game will not be out in North America until earlynext yearmost likely, that company has a lot on their hands, what with TacticsA2, Tactics: The Lion War, remakes of FF 1 & 2, FF13 and its various projects as well as Crystal Chronicles for both the DS and Wii, they are taking on a lot, and those arent even all the games they are developing, there are still several more no doubt.

But the point is it WILL be out in North America and playing a game in my language without the distraction and gameplay disrupting manual translation from constantly referring to FAQs, is something most people are willing to wait for. Not to mention by the time the game hits NA, any issues that may arrise have a good chance of being worked out before hitting shores.

This is my most anticipated DS game at the moment. I couldn't ever want to attempt to play a rpg and not be able to follow the storyline. I'll most definately wait for the US installment. The only games I've ever come close to getting by way of import are Ouendan 1+2, and Daigasso. I still don't have any of those three.
