Final Fantasy 3 DS Opinions

Today's FF4 DS topic turned into a debate about the enjoyment factor of FF3 DS somehow...

So what did everyone think of FF3 DS? And I'm not talking about the Famicon version, I'm talking specifically about the DS version. Myself, I got it at launch...and still haven't beaten it. I find it an absolute chore to play.

The characters all look the same, and that alone detracts from any uniqueness between characters. The main storyline...yeah...just an absolute snoozefest. There's nothing riveting enough to make me feel on the edge of my seat so to speak like other Final Fantasy titles have.

But at the same time I'm playing through again with the intent of beating it this time and also to give the game a second chance. Does anyone have a favorite Job class or party combination they prefer over anything else?

I lost interest in FFIII early into the game. The storyline just seemed pretty bland, along with the characters and the graphics. I don't like the graphics in all honesty, which is probably why I lost interest in the game so quickly. I prefer original graphics or "updated" graphics, like how the original NES FFI had its graphics continuously updated until we got the nice graphics for the ps1, gba and psp. The 3d-ness just killed it for me, although the introduction we get before the game is fairly nice. Maybe I'm just old school and like to see all pre-FFVII games in 2D.

I might give it another chance eventually, that is, if uni doesn't drown me in tons of school work.

I absolutely love the geomancer class, because they use nature to create attacks that do more damage than black magic attacks, and use no mp (unlike regular magic). It's great. I also like ninjas, cause they throw stuff and they're just... cool. Oh, and knights are good cause they protect other characters from physical attacks if their hp is yellow. That's pretty much my whole party, lol, those 3 jobs plus a devout.

As for the game... I'm at the last dungeon and I cannot for the life of me defeat the Cloud of Darkness! It's crazy hard. I leveled everyone up to level 65, faced it, and still died. I was so frustrated after that that I haven't picked it up since. >:(

I haven't touched the game for months, but I really liked the game. For DS, the graphics and animation aren't bad, the gameplay can get intense, and it's got that Final Fantasy charm to it. The game is long and apparently should also take about 30 hours to finish. I also like he fact that there was a good range or weapons, magic, armor and jobs. I just didn't like having to level up job, especially when there are times when the characters are required to change job just to do a particular task, or beat a particular boss. The save points isn't very generous (you could only save on the map :()

After not playing it for a few months, I forgot where I'm suppose to go, or what my next objective is so I'm having a hard time jumping back into it. I should really try beating it before IV comes out.

i thought the remake was brilliant. i loved the new 3d design with the old school turn base battle system. i've beat the game and have actually started over. the game isn't that difficult.. a little level grinding here and there is all you need.

I found it too hard.

I love the Final Fantasy Series, and are some of my favourite games. However I found the DS version too hard, that it was no longer fun but frustrating to play. Though my friends absolutley love the game :)

i liked it a lot. I loved that you could change jobs, and i became completely addicted to it. I also liked the simple battles, and it was incredibly challenging

Best party is blackbelt, ninja, devout, and summoner. If you can get shuriken, ninjas are amazing

I thought FF3 was decent. Everything was decent about it, but nothing particularly stood out. Except the insanely punishing dungeons. Seriously, out of nowhere, sometimes 30-45 minutes into a dungeon, the difficulty would spike out of nowhere, I'd die, start over, die again, and RAGE QUIT!
