As much as I would love to see FF7 and up on the Wii (or even the DS) it's just not going to happen. Sony holds all the licensing and rights to those titles. The only FF titles we have any possibilitiy of seeing on the Wii at this point are FF1 thru FF6. Some of those have already re-surfaced on the DS and the GBA.
If anything, I'd want FF6 on the Wii. To me, FF6 was the very best FF title of them all.
First off, No Sony does not own ANY rights to 7, 8, and 9. 7 and 8 even had PC ports. Square-Enix can do whatever they want with them.
Second, no I don't want an FF8 remake. SE has been FAR too remake happy lately. If I wanted to play FF8 again, I'd go play it on the PS1. A sequel or a prequel however, is a completely different story. I'd be all for a follow up to 8, or a full blown prequel about Laguna and crew.
8 was my first and favorite FF, and it never receives any love, even from Square. I'd love more of it, but all SE seems intent on are remakes, making 13 as huge as possible, and reminding us that FF7 was supposed to be good.
I'd love to see ff8 again, but not a remake and it wouldn't go well with the Wii.
On the side, what does everyone have against ff8? My personal favorite is ff9 and I get a lot of flack for that, but ff8? Who could hate that? lol
Its either FF6 or FF7. No one is allowed to like any other FF these days.I'd love to see ff8 again, but not a remake and it wouldn't go well with the Wii.

I had an idea for a new wii game. FFVIII, the graphics could be easily enhanced, the wii motion controls could be used for Squall's timed attack (an everyone else's) add some voice acting and better in game graphics and it would be perfect. The story and quests are just fine the way they are. well, any thoughts???mariomaster16I like that. Final Fantasy 8 is easily my favorite Final Fantasy. I would buy 2 just to do cause I'm crazy like that. Sony owes Nintendo anyway. What system did Final Fantasy originate on? thats right kids. The Nintendo. Let me take this opportunity and just say, your welcome.

I know FF8 doesn't get the same respect as FF6 and FF7, but it was the first FF I played and still my favorite. As much as the Wii needs more RPGs, Sony wouldn't permit it. I suspect seeing it on the PSP before anything, and doubtful that will happen.

its more like the other way around, if anyone says they like 6 or 7 they get bashed by people who dislike it because of these games popularity or feel there favorite deserves more attention. The haters outweigh the fans by far.

I'd say its easier to find people who loved VII and were irritated by VIII than it is to find someone to stick up for VIII. I even have a friend who stopped playing FF's once she played VIII. I also frequent a particular forum which has an upmost hatred of VII and wishes Nomura had never popped into the picture. These guys worship IV, V, and VI. The most commonly agreed upon one is VI, which is a fine game and all, but just not a personal favorite. Its really not a case of "haters outweigh the fans", its more along the lines of "the under represented being the loudest" But you also can't deny that VIII and IX are practically shunned by SE themselves. Lets run the numbers. FF1 and 2 are on 5 systems (NES, Wonderswan, PS1, GBA, PSP) and was completely remade twice. FF3 received a full blown 3D remake on the DS. FF4 was ported to the PS1 and GBA, with its own DS remake. FF5 and FF6 were both made available with a GBA port and were ported to the PS1 as part of compilations like 4 was. FF7 received a PC port, a movie sequel (AC), a cellphone prequel (BC), a PSP prequel (CC), and a PS2 sequel (DC) FF8 PC port FF9 Nothing FF10 received the first ever FF sequel with X-2 FF11 has several expansions and is still popular today FF12 got a DS spinoff sequel. FF13 is getting that Fabula Crystalis treatment with 3 separate games.[QUOTE="Gohansephiroth"][QUOTE="jmangafan"] Its either FF6 or FF7. No one is allowed to like any other FF these days. jmangafan

But knowing square enix it will take forever, there the only company that can seem to get away with never ever meeting deadlines or release dates.
Uhg, no. 8 was the worst.
If they're going to do a FF remake, do 6. Do it with cell-shaded graphics to match amano's artwork.
Put it on the wii since the graphics wouldn't need to be phot-realism. Add fully orchastrated music, voice acting, and pointer based game play.
we need 6 we need 6 we need 6 we need 68 was awesome!Uhg, no. 8 was the worst.

Final Fantasy 8 was my first FF, and that game was AWESOME!!!!!!!! Best FF IMO apart from FF4 and FF10.
As much as I love Final Fantasy 8, I doubt that Square-Enix would want to remake it on the Wii.:(lancea34
I wouldn't rule it out completely. I mean with DQ10 already Wii bound...
even if it does come to wii, it probably would never see a US release.garrett_duffman
I can't recall any FF game in recent times that wasn't released in the US.

im just saying. its a remake, so... theres a possibilityhow doesthis sound all 6 games, on wii as a collection set! that would be good for those who dont even have the originals, and would generate more fans and at the same time get existing ones ,mariokart64fan
Sounds good... but would take too much time and effort.

The game was ported to the PC. And even if the had a console exclusivity for that version, it probably wouldn't apply to any remakes.
Japanese have an entirely different definition on what remake is. They have already remade FF 7, in fact they've remade FF 7 four times then called them prequels' and sequels'. Now will they actually remodel Final Fantasy 7? Not in this day because they're to busy making money with other sources and more then half of the people who call themselves fans and say that they would buy it will most likely steal a copy of it before it comes out, so why waste the money remaking this oh so favorable game when they can just forget about it. Here is a suggestion, go buy the game on PSN or wait till the PC verson releases on Steam.
Some examples of "remade games" are Resident Evil Umbrella and Darkside Chronicles, Star Ocean 4 was suppose to be a remake. Castlevania Lord of Shadow, New Super Mario bros is but has remodeled levels from both S-Mario Bros and S-Mario Bros 3making it not an actual remake. Ninja Gaiden series is actually a sequel but they call it a remake, I can name thousands of games that claim to be remakes but are actually not. The reason I call FF7 series all remakes because that was their intentions when they made Avent Children, back in 2001 Square Soft let their fans choose witch Fina Fantasy game they would like to see remade and of course the votes were higher for FF7 with FF8 in second so kiss FF8 good bye for remakes. There was also talk about Chronos Trigger remake and Mushashi 2. CT never made it but there was a Mushashi 2 on the PS2 and later came Final Fantasy. No I'm not going to show you prof of this because it was over 5 years ago, that blog page probably doesn't exist anymore plus it was in Japanese and I believe if people are really fans they would keep up with this info.
Final Fantasy 8 was the worst i hated that game after playing ff7 it was such a let down. 7 and 10 for me were the best of the bunch and 12 didn't do it for me it was just ok probably because of the battle system. I hear we might get some Final Fantasy remakes on the 3ds one named FF7 actually as thats the rumor going around.Another thing is it seems like the Handhelds for Nintendo are the Console system now and the Wii is more like the handheld in a kinda weird way. Probably has to do with the sales as a factor because they will release a game that every system gets (Namely PS3 Xbox360) on the DS and not even attempt the game on the Wii I wonder Why??
