Okay, so I just got a DS about a week ago, and I saw that they had a final fantasy for it. I've been a long time fan of the series, but I was wondering if this game is worth it, since it is like the most expensive game for the DS and I find this it is quite pricey. So if you could just give me your opinion on if this game is worth the price and if its a quality FF game, I would really appreciate it. Also, with the WiFi in the game, do you have to know the person to communicatwith them, or can you meet new people via the messaging system they have in the game?

I would highly recommend the game; it is great. I spent over 60 hours in it (I did all side quests and everything in one file and did as little as possible in the next).

The messaging thing, you need FC's to do. GO to the Gamefaqs board and exchange FC's.

I havent ever played it or owned it for SNES, so considering that, do you think that for a first time player of the game it would be worth it?

I would say yes! It's completely worth it! I've had it since it came out and it's my favorite for the DS so far. The magic system is a little different from the other FF games but I like it. You have a different set of MP for different levels of magic. It's really cool because say you've used up all you level 1 magic. In other FF games, you're spent! No more MP. In this one, just because you used your level one, doesn't mean you can't still use level 2 or higher. I just thought that was really cool. If I had one bad thing to say about the game, it would be that it's extremely unforgiving. There are no save points whatsoever. The only way to save is if you're on the world map. So you might be really angry when you finally get through a whole dungeon and then the boss at the end kicks your ass. (which will happen very often if you don't train like a madman) And also, some of the bosses are ridiculous. you'll have your party, and say they have a lot of HP. Well, it doesn't really matter because bosses get two turns every time. It sucks especially bad when the boss has a "kill of most of your party attack" and then uses it twice! It's an instant game over. Sometimes you have to go through dungeons a few times before you finally win. Just remember to train like crazy, don't get rid of your items, due to the job system, and give the game a chance. It starts off kinda slow, but it does pick up fast. That's all I have to say about FFIII for now!

Alright, thanks. I think I'm going to get it because I generally like Final Fantasy, I just got bored with the gameboy ones (excluding V and VI), I thought they were too basic to what I was used to. But this 3D updated one looks good, and I typically enjoy the class system. I just know its like the most expensive priced game for the DS at the moment, and I dont feel like blowing $40 if it's not worth it. But I think I'll get it, it sounds like it's a good challenge.

If you are a fan of the FF series, then its worth getting for sure. I wouldn't say its the best game I've played or the best DS game, but its decent and adds to the FF allure.

i would highly reccomend it it to anyone who even slightly enjoys rpg's it's job list system means that there are many possible teams and you will have fun trying th em all out. The game is worth around thirty pounds, but that doesn't mean you won't find it cheaper on ebay my uncle got it for £12brand new. About the wi-fi you need friend codes but that also means if you send a certain amount of mail you can unlock the best job the onion knight, so start collecting codes now!:D

Oh, is the storyline any good in the game? It seems really similar to the FF I game for the gameboy advance. Is it like a complete and good storyline though?

yes! the story is really good. there are some similarities between FF1's story though like you said. like in FF1, you go to a cave to save princess sara. well that's basically the third thing you do in FF3 only it's princess saraH! yep! they added an H! oh yeah, and i forgot to mention before that there are sometimes extra party members! they actually help you fight and stuff too. they're uncontrollable though. you can't tell them to fight. they just do it on their own. sorry! i'm rambling on again! geez! haha!

Feel free to read my review on it... Basically, I would only recommend if you are a hardcore fan of OLD FF games. With all the action-RPGs available today (except for on the DS, lol), me and many gamers have been a little spoiled by it, and I find the repetitiveness of so many random encounters and turn-based combat to be very... repetitive. :-P I've also been spoiled by my PSP, so the graphics kinda look like crap on it to me. You can't really see the character's noses or any facial expression in the game. :-P ...

For me, it's like every other old-school FF game, and I've kinda "been there, and done that" by now. On the other hand, some people really love random encounters, turn-based combat and old school FF gameplay. If that's you, than yeah, this is but yet another of the dozen or so FF remakes that are like that.

As for Wi-Fi, no, you can't communicate with anyone. The only thing Wi-Fi gets you is an extra dungeon at the end of the game.
