Not bad.

Another great review =D
Anyway I hate FF games, it should get a higher review because I know they are popular and great games...just not to me.
I honestly expected 9.0
Lately to me, Game Spot is picking the strangest things to pick out about a game to lower it's score.
Does every game for the DS have to revolved around touch controls? They act like it does.wiretoss
Yeah, it sounded like it was too long for the guy too. =/
Also the Japan version didn't even have touch screen controls...
I'm still grabbing this one. I'm really starting to lose respect for Gamespot's game reviews. Still better than EGM, though :)

Yeah, you played the game right? Of course the reviewer is wrong, it's final fantasy, right?
Seriously, grow up, who care's about the score? reviews are supposed to tell you about the game, and the review did. Sure, the reviewer might have found that it was not rewarding enough, perhaps you would. You call GS biased, yet EVERYONE is biased too, when a high profile game, which they have not played yet, gets an average score(Like FFTA2) they raise the fanboy guns like there is no tommorrow.
As long as the review is informative, who care's how they grade it? what's appealing to some, may not be to others.

I'm buying the game.
2. Yeah, maybe you missed this from review that you honestly read, right? "Nevertheless, those enamored with Tactics Advance will likely enjoy it." I've been enamored with Final Fantasy for 16 years, and for good reason. Honestly I don't care whether Shiva Stella likes it or not.
3. "You call GS biased": No, the reviewer didn't like the game, plus The average User/Critic rating was closer to about 8.2/10.
4. Not to mention you are the one who pulled out the guns. Maybe you should change your mentality when you're in the DS forum, this isn't System Wars.
5. I love Ninja Gaiden, but I still have enough respect for Gamespot to accepting their 8.0/10 for it (Which is why I haven't picked it up yet).
6. I don't know much about Fanboyism, but Square-Enix earned my respect and I have no doubt I'm going to enjoy this Final Fantasy just like I've enjoyed all Final Fantasies I've played. They are: Final Fantasy /II/III/IV/V/VI/VII/VIII/IX/X/X-2/XI Online (For a Year)/XII/XII Revenant Wings/Mystic Quest/Legend/Legend 2/Legend 3 & Tactics. And, yeah, I know Legend 1/2/3 are really part of the SaGa series. So, yeah, it's sort of like Sixteen years of Final Fantasy Vs. a Gamespot reviewer.
P.S. Yeah, maybe you missed this from review that you honestly read, right? "Nevertheless, those enamored with Tactics Advance will likely enjoy it." I've been enamored with Final Fantasy for 16 years, and for good reason. Go home, kid.Soilworkcob
But the thing is, she stated that those who like the series will like it. Yet you are starting to loose respect?? Why? She didn't like it, don't kill the reviewer! I felt it was informative, just what was wrong with the review?
1*You are gonna say that people don't tend to hype high profile games? That ever since Jeff was fired, which I bet most didn;t know who he was, and some of the gamespot staff left, everyone's got it against GS? Even though ZN is to blame.
2*Good, you shouldn't care. Oh, and just for the sake of arguing, FF =/= of FFT, they are completely different, even if you love the numbered series, you could hate Tactics or Tactics Advance series.
3*Many people love that awful thing known as Rap. Does that mean Rap is any good? No, not at all. I hate rap, and if I had to review it, I'd trash it, but I'd give reasons for it. The reviewer didn't talk without giving her reasons.
4*I pulled the walls :P. I just hate it when people(Truth be told, after the first sentence, all I wrote was aimed at most of the posters) just bash giving dumb reasons.
5*...Ok...
6*I'm not saying you won't like it. But will you love it? as in, give it a 9 just like that? The story might be duller, the characters might be a hundred times more shallow, but carry the FF name. In this case, they didn't change the formula that much from FFTA, but still, nothing is sure in this world.
For number 5; what I meant was that I haven't bought Ninja Gaiden 2. I loved the first one, but I haven't picked up NG2 because I was dissapointed that it got a mere 8.0/10. So, I don't totally disregard all of Gamespot's reviews.
I get skeptical when they start dropping bad scores on nearly every RPG coming out the floodgates. Although I haven't played all the way through Final Fantasy Tactics: Advance, I have played enough of it to understand at least a fair bit of what it's about. Plus, I have played through Final Fantasy: Tactics several times and I loved it. And I love the setting of Ivalice, especially how it has evolved over the years.
BTW. I take it back that I told you to go home. I was irritated.
Not having played it myself yet, I guess I'll have to wait to see if the 7.0 is justified or not
But, the reviewer did seem to have some major bias toward the game from the start. He criticized the judge system, which is a major feature of the game, and from what I can tell it in fact is less strict than before. It seems like he got one weird call about a ranged attack and decided the whole judge system was broken
He also criticizes the Bazaar system, which I think it unjustfied as well. It seems like it operates a lot like the system in Etrian Odyssey 2, where you blindly sell items in anticipation of what items you'll get. Maybe it's not what the reviewer prefers, but it doesn't seem like there's anything wrong or deficient about the system, it's just different.
His criticism of the story may be valid...but honestly I didn't really pay all that much attention to the story in any of the other FFT games, either. The incredibly deep gameplay was what I came for, not a riviting story
I think the 7 is wrong, really...it seems like the reviewer just doesn't like how the game plays, despite the fact that there's nothing technically wrong with it, it's just not how most games handle themselves. It's almost like they gave the review to a guy who has never played an SRPG before, and he came into it and was just shocked at what the game was.
I always thought Tactics was overrated. It was too hard, too complex, kind of boring, and the story sucks.
Fire Emblem is a much better TBS than Tactics. I finally beat FE7, after playing it for nearly a year.
I honestly expected 9.0

Well for one, they could be crappy touch controls; its not unheard of
A 9? You were expecting a 9? out of 10?
I was expecting this to get a 7.5, I mean, its no Final Fantasy Tactics, but its still a worthwhile purchase.
And its not like Advance was praised for its story either. Customization can only earn you so few points....
A review is a review. Hell I saw a 7 and thought "7 out of 10 really isnt bad!" and it's not. We are just too used to games getting 9's and 9.5's that we see a 7 and think its utter garbage.
I almost died when I saw people cussing websites and reviewers for giving Halo a "low" score of 9.5. A 9.5 is an amazing score! How could you ask for anything more! At the same time you have people saying Halo should get like a 7,
Its all subjective. Take it or leave it.

are you joking???? ffta had a funny involving story. you honestly need to go play the original again and 7.5 i was projecting a 8.5 ishthats actually a really good point these reviews are meant to inform you not make teh decision for you. if you liked teh original who cares what a magazine or websote says. theyre not gonna play the game for you so if you like/want a game get it id get this game even if it got a 4Ruhdezee
That is true, but at the same time it can be the complete opposite. Not everybody reads reviews, they might only check scores on multiple sites. The review could be in-depth, tell you every little flaw and every little detail that made it great and end up giving it a 5. It would turn away most gamers, more than anything, as most people can't be bothered reading reviews in the first place. I do agree that people should buy a game they are looking forward to, regardless of what someone else says or what they give it. What I am trying to say is, even with a great review, people will ignore that most of the time once they see a number.
I expected FFTA2 to get a 7-8, but I expected them to have someone review it that seemed interested. There is a difference between someone reviewing a game that is interested in it and couldn't care, which is also something that can affect peoples disicions. I think this is what people are trying to get at. Yes, FFTA2 isn't about story, it focuses on it's battle system and customization. I would also agree that a 7 seems odd, considering it is an upgrade from FFTA and changed things for the better. Simply another example of how reviews can be misleading, on certain aspects.
ign gave it a 9 out of 10kurtwild
Yea! 9 and 7 have a very large difference! Tactics A2 can't be THAT BAD!

The new jobs are nice additions to the game, but removing "versus" mode seems to make the game less worthy to me. Just imagine if Pokemon didn't have multiplayer battle, training your guys up, getting the skills and equipment for your characters suddenly seem to be pretty pointless. Without the "versus" mode, it also removes much of the replayablity of the game.
Sometimes i even wonder if the game is worth 7.0, but i guess it's an okay score, since the game does have a pretty good singleplayer mode.
