I think they will be bringing it out on the psn for download. Probably even xbox live.

Darn, I thought this thread was about Square remaking the game for the DS when I saw the title :( I think there will be a remake of 5 and 6, but for the 3DS.

It would be an awesome game. I don't know why they bothered giving us mediocre ports of extremely aged Final Fantasy games (III and IV) when an update of the pinnacle of the series would have been more worthwhile. Oh well.
Well its safe to assume there will be another remake of FFV before we see one of FFVI. Also i can imagine they would appear on the 3DS or PSP2 at this stage. No doubt it would be awesome though.
Needless to say, it would be right up there with Chrono Trigger if a remake were in the works. I'd love to see the final boss design redone in 3D as well! So, yes please, make it, Square!

This. Although I was excited by the concept at the time, I really struggled to stay interested in FF3 simply because it was missing the things that were present in later games that I liked (proper characters, story etc). I also dislike the overhead 2D style of the old FF games and as great as 6 was, even that was hampered by it, so a (decent looking) 3D version would be great (I don't generally like the pre-Playstation ones as much...personal taste etc).
I'd imagine if they're not already working on another remake then the next one would have to be on the 3DS, which'd suit me fine as it'll hopefully be able to offer better 3D graphics than the current DS.
This link pretty much sums up (and thus destroys) all hope we have for a Final Fantasy V or VI remake. Although Siliconera has a point in saying that SE might be waiting for the the launch of the 3DS.
I didn't like the DS remakes of FF3 or 4, so no I wouldn't like to see anymore FF remakes. I'm tired of Square ruining everything they created, so maybe they should move on from Final Fantasy and do something different.

Final Fantasy III and IV for the DS are complete remakes, not ports.
im going to go with no. its not necessary, not saying it would hurt but surely dragon quest games that havent been released in the states should see some attention before another rehash of ff6 is delivered.

"Technical Problems"? I don't see why the DS couldn't handle remakes of these two games, considering that the SNES hardware the originals were on was obviously much weaker. Though maybe they just want to push these remakes to a level beyond what they did with III and IV? That could be a problem on the DS, and a good reason to hold out for its successor.
Anyone clamoring for remakes of classics shouldn't even call himself a gamer. The FF4 remake was sorry as hellistuffedsunny
Because the title of 'gamer' is such a lofty title that you need to qualify for it? :-P
I'd probably prefer to see a 3DS remake of FF6 than another new entry in the main timeline at this point. Like I said earlier though, not on DS, as 3 was awful (never played 4).

I totally agree, this gen's best FF games IMO were the DS remakes(that actually isn't a high complement considering there was almost no real competition).
I'm playing the GBA version for a second time and its still my favorite entry to the series. A remake would be awesome just do better voice acting (FF4 voice acting was terrible imo).
