So I finally got the Conduit yesterday, along with FarCry 2, but since this is a Wii forum, I won't talk about that one.

Below is my review of the game after playing a few hours. Not near as bad as people say. Personally, I think the Singleplayer is a throw away.

If this game only had the multiplayer component, my only complaint would have been that $50 is pricy for a Multiplayer Only Game.

GRAPHICS:

The Conduit is powered by the Quantum 3 Engine which allows for some cool graphical effects not seen in other games on Wii. The enemy and weapon models look great. The environments however, don't look all that good.

CONTROLS:

Fully customizable. You can do almost anything you want there is so much to adjust. However, the controls as good as they are are not perfect, due to the fact that the Conduit is running at only 30 fps. This is why it just doesn't feel as smooth (even though faster) than Metroid Prime 3 Corruption which runs at 60 fps.

MULTIPLAYER GAMEPLAY:

Lots to do online. This should be the primary reason to buy the Conduit, for it surpasses the quality of the single player by a large amount. You got Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and other modes as well.
There are only 2 problems with the online multiplayer. 1: a glitch that puts you into total black screen, 2: when you acquire the ASE in CTF, you cannot defend yourself from enemies and must rely on team mates, this is especially a problem when you don't have WiiSpeak to tell them what to do.

SINGLE PLAYER GAMEPLAY:

Run through hallway to room to another hallway to room, find hidden nodes to open door, destroy enemy spawn devices, maybe kill a couple of Scarabs and an Invader. Repeat until game's completion. Nothing special, no memorable moments, just enought to make it not suck. Would be a little better if you had a sprint option to avoid enemy fire.

VERDICT:

If you want a quality online FPS to play multiplayer, buy it. If you want a deep single player experience like Metroid, forget it. If you only have a Wii, rent it first to decide if it is a game you want to own.

SCORE: 7.5

I agree, this game isn't as bad as the majority of people make it out to be its just nothing special, however i do normally play with friends online all sitting in the same room which definitely adds to the experience.

I don't really like online and the single player was short and bad, so I didn't like the game. But I understand when people like online, it's a decent game.

Is a review being in a thread a problem? If it is, I need to know.

Late to the party on a review, but pretty accurate. It's a generic, yet suprisingly fun FPS. That's it in a nutshell. If you want a decent FPS with awesome controls, this would be the one. Although it's hard to justify getting the Conduit now with Metroid Trilogy out.

I don't really like online and the single player was short and bad, so I didn't like the game. But I understand when people like online, it's a decent game.

The game modes that I have seen in the Conduits multiplayer are not that different that the modes I played on PC games like Medal of Honor or Team Fortress 2. I think they should of put more effort into setting up the online matches.

I join a lobby, and everyone has to vote for what mode, weapons, and map they want. It gets really irritating when Marathon is selected. I can't stay connected for Nintendo Wifi for very long (bad router) and can't stay connected long enough to finish Marathon.

I have sent a email some time ago to High Voltage as to what they should do to improve the Grinder. I actually got an email back from them stating that they took my thoughts into consideration. This makes me feel good becuase if they fix the problems with single player and polish up the multiplayer a little more, you will truly have a great game.

The only reason I got this game over Trilogy is that I already played through all the Prime games multiple times. Even with the new controls I would just be going through the motions.

I definitely recommend Trilogy to anyone who HAS NOT played the Prime games. You got 60 hours of entertainment, plus a cool metal case for only $50.
