Mario's 3d effect is awsome, there are times ( like under the water ) were I've said "wow" and the game has great depth, I'm getting to the 20 hour mark and loving every minute of it. As long as you arent fussy about games ( only buy AAA titles ) then there is enough on the system to be enjoyed till more top games come out.
Obviously it had a slow start, but now it has Mario 3D land, Mario Kart, Ocarina of Time, and more. I just bought my Zelda edition 3DS, and all I have is OoT, but I am getting both the others. I really like the system for the most part, but beware of the bottom screen scratching the top screen when closed. It is my only big complaint with the system. I cant wait for all the awesome games like Paper Mario, Animal Crossing and more.
The 3D effect btw is mostly cool, but has some drawbacks IMO, such as seeing double (faintly). I only noticed this in shops of OoT though, probably because the camera doesnt move, but link and such do.
The double image is from what is called cross-talk. When something bright is displayed at a different distance and in front something dark, there is something like a reflection that can be seen from both eyes and makes the double image.Obviously it had a slow start, but now it has Mario 3D land, Mario Kart, Ocarina of Time, and more. And actually there is also another factor; general eyesight.
You're used to it, so probably no realize, but depth perception comes from the use of two eyes sending two images to the brain, so to make images 3D you use the same technique, only this time it is an illusion. The reason it looks so weird on the 3DS is because A) you're not used to it yet, and B), the 3D is an unnatural illusion that actually mimics depth perception rather than truly giving 3D depth. So basically you're going to see a bit double (as in real life) no matter how good the 3D is.
Even Sony, with it's HD 3D TV screens, are no stranger to this.

It's called stereoscopic 3D. If you're constantly seeing double (in real life), you should probably get your eyes checked. Your brain should be able to compensate for differences in the angle of your eyes unless they are extreme.[QUOTE="Aleksa8"][QUOTE="TankZorz"] The double image is from what is called cross-talk. Your brain should be able to compensate for differences in the angle of your eyes unless they are extreme. With two eyes processing separate images to the brain, you are always seeing double. It's an illusion, albeit a healthy one, to only see one thing in front of you by combining the two images together, and that's how you make depth perception. Doing it twice, once with real world 3D and once with a second screen, is bound to have some inconsistencies, so you will always be seeing a bit of "double" when you look at any 3D picture, film, or video game. It is only a problem if you're not capable of forming a single image from the two pictures, thus "seeing double" like people say.

Seeing in 3D in real life is not an illusion because in that case the 3D actually exists. The illusion in this case is making a 2 dimensional image appear 3 dimensional. The depth is not actually there but we perceive it because of the separate images showing the scene from slightly different angles. And that's not what seeing double means... I understand your reasoning but you're wrong. When someone is seeing double it means they aren't able to focus on whatever they are trying to look at so the image formed by their brain contains two of the object rather than one object in focus. What we're talking about with the 3DS is what people commonly refer to as "ghosting." In this case, it's actually crosstalk between the two interlaced screens that causes the double image of certain objects in certain settings in the games. Please Log In to post.
