My fiancee's manager asked her to help him find a Wii for his son. He figured since I found one before, I could help my fiancee find another one. She neglected to tell him how long it took me to find mine. It was roughly 2 months before I lucked out & found one. I wasn't too happy that she volunteered me to this task. I mean we have al kinds of crazy things going on right now, including wedding planning. But she talked me into helping, so we're off Wii hunting. I tried Gamestop, EB Games, & FYE at the closest mall, but they had none in stock. Hell, FYE had in inventory of -3 available! I was ready to go home at this point, not wanting to go thru the hassle of driving to the next 2 malls, Target, & walmart. But off to Walmart we went. I asked the clerk if they had any in stock, she said she would have to check in the back. I thought she was going to come back empty handed & tell us to try back next week. Tell me why she came out with the Wii system in her hands! I was totally surprised, and pissed that it took my fiancee all of 2 hours to find a Wii, while it took me 2 months!! Just needed to vent that out.
There's no place I can find one except for an EB that's within walking distance of my house. I actually applied for a job there 2 days ago just so I could afford to get one.

It could've been worse you could of spent 2 months looking for one for someone you don't know/care about I say you had some luck their, nothing worse than spending all that time for something your not even getting rewarded for (not that I'm selfish) :D

Same here. Wasn't even planning on getting preorder. Drove by EB games on my way to work, saw the line, inquired as to what was going on and figured what the hell, might as well wait too.
I've met her manager, he's a real cool guy. And I felt bad for his son. He wanted the new transformers game for his DS, his grandparents were going to take care of that. But nobody bothered to see if the game was even out yet. It doens't release until the movie does. So he didn't get anything for his birhtday. Everybody else that did get him something ordered it online, and the presents haven't come in yet. I can see the look on his face tonight when he gets the system.
I don't get it... is because people don't want to buy a bundle from Gamestop.com/EBGames.com? It seems like every week, they have them available (I usually click through around 10:15a-EST). At this moment, there are 3 bundles in stock and they're fair bundles (good games and accessories that you would buy anyway), unlike the release bundles that required you to by the $80 SD card (that cost $25 without the Wii sticker), a Game Informer magazine subscrition and 5 games (no choice).
Shipping and handling costs seem worth it based on the time, ordeals that people have been going through and considering the cost of gas, driving from one mall to Target to Walmart to another mall.

Dude, I agree with the whole hassle of driving & gas thing. I don't think her manager even though of checking online at all. But maybe my fiancee will earn some brownie points towards a raise/promotion.
It'd be a score if she did, any Boss with a slice of common sense would take this into consideration so fingers crossed! Good luck with the Wedding and stuff!

Wow, sounds like you lucked out your second time. Sorry about how long it took to find the first on though... 2 MONTHS?!?!? Crazy. But yeah, there still is definitely demand. I was at Target yesterday looking at some CDs, which happens to be right next to the gaming section, and I saw this guy and his 2 year old kid walk in and ask if they had any Wii's yet... which they didn't. Consider yourself lucky you didn't have to spend 2 months again!
good job man! it took me five months to find one for myself. and you've already found two in what......8 months. they're still sold out everywhere i go. the only one ive ever seen is the one that i bought. Â
I was lucky when I got mine... I was at Walmart in the general location of the home entertainment section when they made the announcement of having just got 6 Wiis in stock. When I got there, one had already been sold... I haven't seen any Wii's in stores since then.
LOL you guys get so pissed not finding a Wii. Working at a game store, I think people are jumping the gun on getting their hands on a Wii, there's not enough good software yet. But it's their money. Hell I jumped the gun too, only to be a bit dissapointed, but at least I use my Wii for Gamecube stuff :D
Agreed, if they were on display in the game case I would have had to keep on looking in other places. I wonder how many more they actually had in the back. It just crossed my mind that maybe one of the employees was trying to hide it back there and purchase it when they got off their shift. Hope I didn't thouroughly piss some poor sap off!
