Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn is my favorite game this gen. So I would give it a 10.Nintendo_Ownes7Same here! Radiant Dawn deserves a 10!!!!! It's fantastic! My favriote Wii game period!
Gamespot is more critical usually of Games which is good in my opinion.
If you actually READ the review they say why or if you lack the attention span read their list of Cons:
Laughable plot
Frustrating difficulty will alienate newcomers
Doesn't even try to adapt and make use of the Wii
Little to no improvement graphically over its GameCube predecessor.
Sounds like a decent reason to give it a 6.
I don't think the review is off, but I feel the number is wrong.
A lot of what berated the game was the lack of direction from Nintendo to justify the title. In Japan, these SRPG games are just assumed to be sequels, but American versions are usually so butchered that they never fully connect.
Nintendo finally corrected the problem and got belittled for it. No small wonder their new direction is to get as many people playing their games.
Whether or not they gave it a bad review doesn't depend merely on the number value they attached to it. I think it has far more to do with the review itself - did it explain the reasoning and could you figure out how good of a game the reviewer thought it was without looking at the score? Maybe you feel the score itself is low, and I'll admit, that low of a score usually turns me off. But I don't think you need to attack the review or reviewer in order to disagree and get others to try the game. I've seen a lot of people say that they think it's one of the best games - even their favourite - on Wii. I'd check it out on the basis of testimony. Hearing about other people enjoying a game is far more powerful than a number any day. I guess what I'm saying is that you don't have to put down another person's opinion in their review in order to justify disagreeing. You can just say, "oh, I really liked this game for X,Y, Z reasons. Who's with me?"Who else thinks that GameSpot underrated Radiant Dawn? I think it's much better than they gave it credit for.

I've read the review many times, and beaten the game many times as well. And yes, the review gives "reasons" why it got a 6.0, but just because they list things does not automatically mean they are good reasons to dock a game's score.
1. I still hate this, laughable plot? Really? The game made vast leaps over the others in storytelling, with more of the beautiful cutscenes and voice acting additions. If you didn't play Path of Radiance I could see why you would be lost, but if you are reviewing a direct sequel then you should have played the original(which I assume he did), and if you played the original then I honestly can't see what you would be complaining about with the story.
2.You shouldn't be playing the game on medium or hard difficulty then. Easy is incredibly easy, and this is such a moot point that it should never have made it into the review as a con against the game.
3. Other then graphics(which was listed as a con below, so cannot affect this topic) I really don't know what you are asking for here. Mii Support? No thanks. IR pointing? God no(and if you are a Fire Emblem fan you should agree with me on that). The game can be played with a Wiimote, and therefore is a Wii game.
4. This is a real complaint.
When you put it all together the game sounds like a 7.5 or better, but it's the reviewers loss and not mine.

1. The story is good. Nothing compared to Metal Gear Solid or Kingdom Hearts, but still good for a Fire Emblem game. 2. The difficulty is harsh, but thats why I love it! I can't tell you how many times I have seen the game over screen in that game. As for the newcomer thing, there is an easy mode, I think. 3. It doesn't need to make use of the Wii's features. It's still an amazing game. 4. The graphics aren't the best, but they are still good. I have replayed the game a total of 2 times, and working on my third! One of my favorite games this gen. I gave it a 9.5, as the only thing I didn't like was how bad Micaiah's group was... I actually only ended up using Micaiah and Soothe in the final chapters because Haar and Mia were already better than Jill and Edward.AndrnYeah, the first batch of soldiers you get are nothing compared to the Greil Mercenaries!

He is one of the best! By the time you make him a wyvern lord he will be nearly unbeatable! Haar is the guy with the big black wyvern, black armor, and an eye patch. You can't miss.
I actually found this game at FYE for 10 dollars, used I think, but it runs like new. I bought Shadow Dragon and I got addicted, so I had to get this.
1. I certainly think that the story is not 'laughable', it's definitely enjoyable
2. I'm a newcomer (I've been playing Fire Emblem for a week total) and I don't think that it's too hard...
3. I agree with most of the people who have already posted here, this game doesn't need most of the Wii controls, it's better without them.
4. I actually think the graphics aren't bad. I mean, it's a strategy game, not usually known for incredible graphics.
In my mind, this game deserves at least a 9.0
I looked at GS's score without even reading the whole review and decided to stay away from this game even though I loved the old one. But when I heard Nintendo Power gave it a 9.5 out of 10 I thoguht I should at least rent it. When I tried it, it was awful. The graphics were ugly, the story was boring and it was just overrall boring.
I'd give it a 5 out of 10. I'm going to get the new DS one though since its just a remake.
Should hav gotten this game when I saw it, now hard to find ..the search continue.maxgil2It shouldn't be too hard to find. You just have to look for it. It should be in most EBGames/Gamestops. It shouldn't be that expensive anymore either.
I think the Game is 7.9. 6 is much too low of a score. they probably ranked it 6 because the graphics and plot. its not that bad.
As much as I liked PoR, the Wii version felt too rushed. Graphics identical to the GC(which were not that good to begin with) and no IR support turned me off. I know there's a great game there, but I truly can't stand knowing the developer's did not try very hard.FFCYAN
Graphics identical to Gamecube??
thats should be a PRO since GC had the best graphics last gen and BTW that shouldnt matter too much for a review
we're talking about games notPixar movies lol

Alot of Radiant Dawn was copy/pasted as far as presentation goes. Even the dialog portions seemed like I was playing the same game.As for the graphics, PoR had DECENT GC graphics, so knowingRD looks like a decent GC game comes off as rather lame. Intelligent Systems should have taken more time to give Radiant Dawn a more proper Wii debut.

The first one, ok. but SMG had a laughable plot and was game of the year, wasn't it?
Second, I loved the "frustrating difficulty" (damn noobs). And if I remember correctly, wit most other Nintendo games for Wii they critizised it was to easy.
Third, the graphics where outdated, but that can't take away much from the score with a game like FE, that's just so much not about eye candy
So overall, 6 is as low as I think anyone can rate this game. but than, their review is in no way at least attemping to be representative or an average of how gamers might feel about it or whatever. But why do waste all these words when it's already been said so well:
The review did have some valid points, the game was pretty much a gamecube game that did not take advantage of any Wii technology, nor did it move the franchise forward. However, the game also still had the top-notch gameplay, depth, and balance that the series is known for, and the score did not reflect that at all._BlueDuck_
But than, bad reviews (actually, it's not so much the review than the score, which is a good thin) happen to anybody, don't they? I mean, it's called Gamespot not the freakin Bible...

did you expected waggle?? if the game works well it should stay the sameI was not debating the core aspects of Fire Emblem. Mearly that lack of anything new or done with the Wii's hardware in mind. The game was essentially unchanged from a system to system point of view in every way(maybe the CG was better, but that's about it). Asking if I expected waggle is clearly a trolling answer.Basically, simply because a series works well does not gives developers an excuse to not improve on said series.

That ruined the game for me. The game is great and I like it. The plot though, not so great, it actually got me bored of the game. I would have given it a 7.5 or something.
The game is good, it does nothing new at all. It does what any SRPG is supposed to be. Graphics aren't important in a game like this. Disgaea 3 got knocked for having graphics like the PS2. SRPG's are commonly harder than other games, it's the way they are made. It is like saying a platform has too much jumping in it. The game should have got at least a 7.

Im just tired of people arguing about waggle if it use motion, or poor development if they dont use it
it really doesnt change the hole experience
I loved "waggle" in Madworld and no pointer in LKS
thats all, both are excellent games that shouldnt be judged by its controls
