Introducing Transformers, DS version. The project was very ambitious, they tried a lot with the handheld`s limited hardware, but, although a valiant attempt, it failed. The game offers a large town area for you to explore each level. There are no pedestrians, and the traffic`s density is laughable but it still manages to give you a fraction of the GTA feel. What`s worse is that there are very few car models, and they all look very blocky. The collision model is also dated and buggy (once I ended up beneath ground level, stuck there, had to restart mission). It`s cool to transform from robot to car and vice-versa, but the car you transform into look just like the others in traffic. The worse visual flaw, by far, is the constant flickering of the screen. It`s annoying and feels like the game was rushed. I mean, that`s not something you wouldn`t notice right away... they should`ve taken the time and fix it, but i think there was none left. In conclusion, an admirable attempt, but a failure, unfortunately

Yeah, I saw this today on a friend's DS. It sure looks good, but from what I saw, it doesnt seem to be anything special gameplay-wise.

what are you talking about?! a failure?!

no way. if at all, it was a good game. its got cool stuff that you can't do on GTA. like climbing walls, doing ground pounds. i mean come on. how is transformers a failure.

none of the above bugs that you've discovered have happened to me before, never seen any constant flickering nor ended up beneath ground level. infact, its GTA that has you ending up in weird spots most commonly.

and so what if you're car looks the same. thats the point. your car is meant to blend in with the crowd. besides, you can change your colour, all the car models you see on the street have less colours than the amount given to you to choose from. beside, in gta you steal your car so its exactly the same as the ones you see on the street too

i honestly think that this game is good. its not exactly gta but hey, its on the ds, and its not trying to mimic gta completely anyways. i understand how you migth feel this game is a failure, especially compared to GTA. but in its own right. its a decent to very good game. and its a movie game. how often are they AAA games anyways?

I think you took the comparison between the two games a bit too literal. He is talking about the sandbox free roam aspect of the GTA series, not the actual gameplay elements such as what your can and cannot do or to compare glitches in each one.

Now just because you haven't experienced said glithces, doesn't mean they exist. The mentioned issues don't sound too appealing, but I can't say I've heard much either way. I would like to know the actual difference between the two ds versions, from what I hear they are minimal.

Obviously each version is different, you use Autobots the other is Decepticons.

Another thing is there's an exclusive place in each version..

That's all i know.

Each version of the game gets specific Transformers, they each get one specific level (Autobots have an Antarctic level while Decepticons have a desert level), and in Autobots you're trying to stop everything from blowing up while in Decepticons you're trying to destroy everything.

it is only 6. your custom char and 5 autobots/decepticons from the movie. but its not about playing as different characters. its about scanning all the vehicles and transforming into them. different vehicles affect your size and stats(robot and vehicle forms). its just great stuff actually.

They are actually total opposites. With different stories, different characters, a different world, and different cars. And some people need to give the game a break. With the DS's capabilities, this game is a huge step forward.
