You see what the new rating system did to Bioshock, and MP3? It is by NO MEANS easier, or more leniant. If it was the old rating system, MP3 woulda got 8.9, and Bioshock get 9.3, and Halo get 9.8
Now to defend my views on Halo, just look.
Gameplay... Duh 10, greatest formula of grenade dual wield with items and all...
Graphics... 9, but most likely 10, they did a whole thing called "graphics evolved"
Sound... 60,000+ bits of audio with the great songs and all... Most likely 10, but could be 9
Value... 10 No doubt, Forge, Theater, garies mod like value... INSANE replay value...
Tilt... 10... Jeff Gertsman + halo = 10. I don't even see why it got 9.5... deserved 10 on new rating system
It can be in favor and it can be not in favor. If a game is rated 6.8 it's going to go up to a 7. If a game is rated 9.2 it's going to go down to a 9.
well i'm not entirely sure of that. You see, that assumes that gamespot still uses its old scoring system to determine their score, and then just rounds it.. however, i believe this new system was implimented to allow them to score games in a different way, without being restricted in the way the old system was. Think of the new system kinda like how IGN does things, the overall score is not an average of their breakdown, but rather a score that the reviewer feels the game deserves overall. Gamespots old system always alloted a certain percentage to each category, but maybe sometimes it shouldn't be like that. Maybe sometimes there are more factors to a games score. Not saying gamespots new system is better, merely that they aren't using it anymore..
