how does the whole waiting outside thing work. do you just sit outside for an hour? and do the people from say, circuit city, always come out there and tell you "we dont have them" or "heres your ticket", or do they just leave you out there when they dont have any? also once you have your ticket can you wait in the car? thanks.

They come out an hour before the store opens and say how many they have an give out tickets. If you have a ticket you can come back when the store opens or at noon it doesn't matter.

Some stores if they are the 24 variety and have sense will direct you to a waiting area with chairs then bring the units to you. It's getting a lot better but a lot of people still have to camp out an hour or two if a shipment is known to be coming to the stores because these shipments are advertised in the newspaper, mailed ads etc. So everyone who wants a wii will come at that time.

Usually they give the tickets out an hour before. During the first few months all tickets were claimed hours before the units arrived but that was when the store recieved six units.

I went to the nintendo world store (who had I believe it was 3000 wii's or some ridiculous number) and waited in a nice orderly line all around the block. as it got later in the day they came out and told people to go home because they wouldn't make it inside before the store closed but other than that I just sat in line patiently

Personally, I have never done it, but i've seen it happen. Basically people sit outside a shop untill it's open. It usually happens only at big stores.

I'm in the UK, it works a little differently here. We only had people doing the overnight stuff, or waiting until the store opened on launch day. Most people seem to try one of two methods, either order online from one of the major dealers and hope they get an allocation or go around the local stores (typically Game/Argos/ASDA (Walmart)/ToysRus and others) and ask when they're expecting to have some Wiis in stock.

In my case I asked at Game one weekend and they said they were expecting some the following Friday at about midday. So I went there on Friday at midday and got one, which was quite lucky since they were selling fast, they didn't offer pre-order or tickets for people who wait in advance.

Pre-odering is the best way to go!!! ( if the store near u allows pre-ordering ) i ordered mine in september and it was as simple as walkin into da store and collecting it!
