well first off i liked star fox adventures and assualt, mainly the on foot missions, so for the next fox game they should make the multiplayer online and like Warhawk for ps3 (which i hear is getting good reviews) and the on foot portions in multiplayer and single player like gears of war. Cause that would be a killer app

I have never played Warhawk but gears is way to bloody and imo they could have done it better. Also if they did that then they would just be copy cats.I'd prefer to have a single player like starfox adventure

First off, the On-Foot missions Sucked.......Alot.

I want it to be like Star Fox Command, but with a more varied Multi-Player.

The series really needs to be saved, IMO. Look at all the starfox games since the awesome Starfox 64. Starfox Adventures felt less like starfox and more like Zelda. Assault wasa complete joke, beat it in 4 hours 30 minutes and promptly resealed it and returned it. Command was a decent DS title, but again not what people wanted. Just give me a lengthy, pleasing to look at 10 hour on rails space shooter with branching paths and a kickass online dogfight mode, and I'm set.

Nintendo screwed up Foxie. He looked so cool in Adventures and Smash Brothers Melee. Since Nintendo took over the job to keep Starfox alive they kinda messed up his face. I mean he looks like he ran into a wall or something. But then again screw RARE!! They could have earned 10 timesthe money they recieved from Microsoft if they stayed at Nintendo, producing the familiar franchise RARE was so famed for.

Lol? "Hey, screw Rare for making an intelligent decision and agreeing to exclusivity for a gargantuan heap of cash!". Rare still makes great games, dont worry about it. It's just that this time around, you have to buy more than the Nintendo console to experience them, is all.

Intelligent decision? Rare still makes great games?

I own a 360 and i'm sorry il have to disagree. They screwed up Perfect Dark, Viva to me was kinda boring and Conker could have been more than it was. For the rest there isn't much to look for.

Not that they are bad games or something, but I'm still convinced that RARE could have earned way more money they recieved from Microsoft right from the start, if they stayed at Nintendo, producing the familiar franchise we all want. Salesnumbers are proving it. Look what's happend to Starfox, and especially Donkey Kong, RARE could have done such great things with them!!

I must say I agree. Once Rare was bought out by Microsoft, their best years were left behind them. Not only did they have a fall out of key personnel, there's been a lack of great titles that they've been known for. What I miss most are the Banjo-Kazooie games. They promised us a 360 update but when?!!! I'd also like to see these on either VC or Xbox live (preferably xbox live since the graphics may be updated).

indeed, Star Fox was awesome on the SNES and on the N64, but then they came up with this on-foot crap.

I had said it many times, Star Fox should be about dogfighting and facing massive machine bosses.

^I have to disagree with you. The addition of Foot Missions in Assualt was a nice addition to the series. I mean, come on, a real life army will have foot soldiers with the addition of other divisions. It will get pretty boring being stuck in the Arwing for the entire duration of the game and being shot down on a planet's surface means instant death. In Assualt, during All Range Missions, when you're shot down; as long as you're on the planet's surface, you survive to continue fighting.

As for branching paths, I never liked them since making one screw up meant you have to continue the game as is or retry the mission with a single laser.

I think the next Star Fox should bring back the Blue Marine since the Land Master was brought back and have the ability to hijack enemy vehicles if your primary one was shot down. Example, if your Arwing was shot down, you could hijack an enemy's vehicle and control it.

I also think more vicious dogfights are in order and have Star Wolf make more appearances in the next game.

i agree 100%, they just need to make th on foot missions better, and have to take cover like in gears of war (just....u know...obviously not as bloody, cause nintendo would never do that)

Part of the original Star Fox formula's greatness is the simplicity. It's an on-rails shooter with pre-determined enemy flight paths. In a way, it's nearly identical to the old top-down shooters like Star Soldier, or the side-view shooters like R-Type, but in 3D. The point of those games is to get to the end with the highest score possible. It's fun because it's simple. Not easy... simple. We tend to expect more complexity from our games as the technology becomes more complex, but some formulas should be kept simple.

With all that said, I'd like the next Star Fox to return to the simplicity of the original, but use the advancement of technology to its advantage. More detailed environments, more destructible environments, more levels, more paths. But keep it all on rails, except for the occasional "all-range mode" sequence, and keep the enemies on predetermined paths. There's something about this consistency that adds replay value to these games. When you start to memorize the levels, you can get higher scores and have more fun blowing stuff up. Ikaruga is a great example of that. It only has five levels but it has amazing replay value.

Really? Kameo: Elements of Power was a great launch title, with extremely innovative gameplay related to the different ways you could approach a battle. Perfect Dark Zero, while genuinely inferior to its predecessor, was still an enjoyable FPS experience, with great Live support to wrap it up in a nice package. Viva Pinate was critically acclaimed on many sites (GS being among them), for its quirky style and interesting ecosystems. As for Banjo Kazooie, Rare just game an interview about it some 3 weeks ago, and you can be sure it'll be here in a few months.

That's right. It should be decidedly old-school in it's approach by following the "easy to learn, hard to master" philosophy...kinda the way Panzer Dragoon Orta did it.

As for controls, I think that you should aim with the nunchuck analog stick and shoot with either A or B, whichever feels natural to you, leaving the other for missiles. It's not using the motion sensor all that much but that's how it would feel right to me...

AND NO FREAKIN GROUND MISSIONS!

whoozwah

What's wrong with ground missions? Why do people want Star Fox to be issolated in their vehicles? Would you want to die while in a vehicle WITHOUT the chance to continue fighting as long as you're on a planet? I say it's a DRASTIC improvement over going down with your ship (won't work if you're in the vaccum of space)!

I agree with many of you in the sense that it needs to be simple, and on rails. And the old ground missions sucked.

But I don't mind to have them (the ground missions) if they are something else that shoot shields generators. Perhaps infiltrating into a base or anything different.

As for the control Nintendo could use the Wiimote as a joystick to manuver the craft.

Because in vehicles is where the game shines. I'd much rather have a solid experience entirely in a vehicle than an experience bogged down by less than stellar ground missions that really don't fit with the whole "feel" of the game. Star Fox is an on-rails shooter; that's what makes it fun. There are plenty of other games with "ground missions" to satisfy your craving.

The only kind of ground mission that I would find acceptable in Star Fox is something like Jet Force Gemini, which often plays very similar to Star Fox - dozens of easily defeatable enemies with predetermined paths flying at you. That at least fits with the rest of the game.

i totally agree with the moderator. star fox has become too complex and nintendo just kept adding more and more stuff to it. it needs to go back to the star fox 64 style. star fox games used to be all about the replay value and getting all of the endings. that was why star fox was original, fun, and how it became one of nintendo's big franchises

Well since rare is gone, maybe RETRO should try their hand at another Nintendo franchise other than metroid. They've proven that they are a talented team in visuals, gameplay, artistry, and bringing popularity to Nintendo classics. I think if they tried as hard as they did with the primes, we could get a pretty darn good starfox game out of them. IF not then maybe Factr 5 could help Nintendo out, they did good with the Rogue Squadron games.

I think its one of those cases where they did what the gamers wanted and it turned out bad. I remember that everyone i knew wish you could fight on foot on starfox, they did it, and it turned out it sucked. Its one of those cases where the gamers would make bad games if they got their ways, just my opinion, i would like a good dogfighter though, 32 player dogfights would be sweet, especially if all range mode controlled like ace combat games.

rare still makes good games huh ,? i dont think soo you go ahead play pdzero all you like cause that right there is not as good or as valuable as the original for instance in zero gues how many multiplayer maps guns and characters there are maps- 6 plus 4 plus 2 =12 the original had 13 thats one more level then zero and lets subtract classic maps thats 10 characters - six the original over 50 plus head customizations weapons pd64 over 50 pdzero about 20 or so and single player 11 missions excluding dl one and original had well as much as goldeneye 007 20 or even more plus 30 challenges you must complete zero had none of a sort

the only cateogory pdzero achieved was graphics and that is not the most important aspect period .

and dont get me started on that stripped down conker game remade for xbox 1 or even kameo and grabbed by the gholies they all lack fun factor and kameo is so frustrating i cant get passed level 2 so if anything rare does not make good fpses or adventure games no more cause you wanna really know why , the team behind most of their killer titles left and created games like timesplitters 1 2 3 second sight and new games such as haze and a new locus arts /free radical project as well as a confirmed timesplitters 4 to be released in 2008
