Futuristic Zelda- What do you think?

Reading SuperSmashBro1's thread about which Link should be in the next Zelda game reminded me of an april fool's day joke i saw on a wii fansite. i really wish i could remember the name of it, but i was wondering, do you think giving Link and the whole Zelda universe a futristic look would work? i personally think it would be cool to see how nintendo could do that

Meh, I would be skeptic about it, but it could work.

I think what people maybe don't realize is that Windwaker was already futuristic. It took place in the future relative to the other games. Ergo futuristic. See? &^)klarfis

leave the sci-fi stuff to GeoW and Halo, seriously.....

There is a futuristic Zelda and its doing great....its called Metroids. The only differnces are they are from a differnt POV the heroes use a different main weapons and they have different goals. But gameplay at the most basic level are the same and even the power ups are similar webbut

I'd absolutely hate it if they'd do that. For me, the main strength of Zelda is the early medieval and mythical setting. The breathtaking nature, the mysterious castle towns - it's what defines the franchise. That's not to say a Zelda in a futuristic setting couldn't technically be a good game, but for me, it just wouldn't be Zelda. It's the same idea of modelling Mario after a realistic world like in GTA, it just doesn't compute.

Zelda is popular because it is the greatest midevel gaming franchise out there. If they took away the midevel it wouldn't be the same.
