I read an article on IGN today regarding an interview with Shigeru Miyamoto in next month's issue of Famitsu, and it was mostly about the Balance Board and the possibility of more games coming out for it should it succeed in North America. I've already discussed the hell out of that topic, so if you want to create a new topic about it on the forums, by all means go ahead.

What piqued my interest is that Miyamoto states that he is considering creating a sequel to Mario Galaxy.

Here's an exerpt from the article:

The magazine also asked Miyamoto the inevitable question about sequels, and he gave the expected answer. In case you have to hear to to believe it, Miyamoto is indeed interested in making a Super Mario Galaxy sequel.

Not all that surprising, really, considering the success that the original achieved, both critically and financially. But my question to you is, well, first of all, does this sound like a good idea to you (you can answer that in the poll above)? And if you answer "yes", what would you like to see added or removed from the game?

I already wrote a topic about this yesterday, with something that I wanted to see happen in the first game, so you can quickly scan over that if you want, and you'll get my input on this. But this is really for you guys to share your ideas and opinions about what you want in the possible sequel.

So, that said, hit it, guys!

I read the arcticle earlier today and i'm fine with a sequal but only if they use Super Mario Galaxy as a starting point. I don't want "Disc 2" that could of easily been included in the one we have now.

I would love to see a sequel, and I don't care if the gameplay is exactly the same. SMG was great, and with some tweaking, SMG 2 could be fantastic. I'd like to see Mario and Luigi both playable from the beginning, with each of them only able to get certain stars due to specific characteristics (like Super Mario World).

I voted "Depends on where they decide to take it next." It might be hard for them to come up with a sequel to Mario Galaxy, and it could be years until that even then. I don't care if they don't release one, the fact that I own Mario Galaxy is reason enough to be happy.

I avoided that topic because it has already been talked about too much around here. Plus, there is zero information about it in that article, so there's nothing new to talk about.

ahh confusing paraphrases. i just picked "Mee...ah...moe...toe? Is that some kind of foot fungus?"

they should sequal mario but not galaxy. one thing that drives mario games success is the different theme that it is played in. imo.

A Mario sequel? Yeah, sure... but a Galaxy sequel with more of the same? I'd buy it because I'm a sucker, but I'd rather see a fresh new Mario game 5 years from now.

I think that another mario game like mario 64 and sunshine and galaxy would be good but not a "actual sequel sequel" like not Super Mario Galaxy 2 but a different place and stuff.

it'd be kinda awkward controlling yoshi while hopping from planet to planet. They should have it so you can play as peach too

No way I think it doesn't need a sequel it's a very good game and I don't think making a sequel to Super Mario Galaxy would be right.

I wouldn't mind if they didn't change the gameplay and created new 40 galaxies. I want a sequel because I know that is Super Mario Galaxy 2 doesn't come out, then we'll have to wait until next gen to get a new Mario adventure.

I would like it if they had all flat levels like in 64 but then as the higher you get in the level the gravity changes to what it was in galaxy thats all it would really need (and maybe some more powerups)

Yeah, but (I said this earlier to someone else) I've seen dozens of topics asking "what should the next Zelda be?" I'm done talking about that for a while, and done reading it as well. It's always the same.

I'm sold.... as long its a platformer, it better not be Super MArio Galaxy Hub Party that would be the biggest disappointment of the world. I know he has alot more ideas and maybe SMG was just basics. And the Zelda info i really dont care about never played a Zelda game in my life.

I'm definitely down. How about making the Sequel Super Mario "BROS" Galaxy, and give you the choice of either Mario or Luigi at the start?

Give me Super Mario Hell! Actually, that reminds me of a Mario game idea I had awhile ago called Mafia Mario. It would be a GTA style adventure.

Depends on what they do with it. I can see a lot more cool ideas coming from the idea of gravity distortion that they had in Galaxy. It would be cool to have them really flesh it out more. It had a lot of great uses in this game, and if they leave it at that, then I'd be fine, but fi they flesh it out some more in a sequel I'm all for it. But if it's just going to be too much of the same, then I would rather have them come up with a new idea for a Mario game. Maybe keep it along the same lines as Galaxy, which was more like a 2D game in 3D, with elements from the 2D and 3D games mixed together with new ideas. I just hope that whatever they do, it's unique and fun.
