game boy games playable on ds

my mum has just got a ds & we are wondering can you play original game boy games & game boy colour games on it. we no that you can play game boy advance games on it.

Where they heck did you get that from? Neither the original DS or the Lite play GB and GBC games.

As each new handheld came out, it was able to play only the previous system game in addition to the games made for it. But only that one previous system games.

DS can play Advance games, Advance can play Color, Color can play GameBoy. But no system can jump back 2 types & work. But at least Nintendo made each system play earlier games, because they could have made each one only play the games made for that system.
