How in HECK does Nintendo expect us to play Super Smash (or Mario Kart) on the Wii U without the gamecube controller? Through the Wii Mote & Nunchuck? Maybe the Classic Controller? It can't be the Wii U controller cause supposedly we can only use 1 or 2 per console so what do you guys think? is Nintendo going to announce a wireless gamecube controller for these games along with possibly downloadable gamecube games or maybe something else?

We don't have a solid confrmation on the Wii-U controller scenario. It's rumored that the Wii U can support streaming for 4 standard definition displays - aka, controllers. We have yet to hear a confirmation on that one, though. So, it's anyone's guess at this point. It would be nice if the Wii U had a built in reciever for WaveBird controllers. We'll have to wait until E3 to find out, but right now, the GC controller ports are confirmed to be gone.

I would assume the c1assic controller support will be available. If it supports Wii Remotes, it should support the CC as well. I do hope they release some sort of wireless Compatable Cube controller just for Smash, though.

Current Wii models already omitted GameCube backwards compatibility, including the controller ports. I doubt the Wii U is going to reverse that. It shouldn't be too hard to adapt to using the Classic Controller, though...unless you're playing something that depends on analog L and R triggers, in which case I hope you like the original Classic Controller, because for whatever dumb reason, the Classic Controller Pro reduced L and R to digital buttons. (And from the look of the Wii U tablet controller, it doesn't look like they've made the two underside shoulder triggers analog, either.)

The touch pad controller is petty much a classic controller with a touch screen in the middle and circle pads insead of anolog sticks

Also, Nintendo could easily release gamecube styled controllers, wireless or by wire via usb, that are pre-order bonus for the game.

There will be...

A GCN controller emulated on the controller (available from the Nintendo App store)

It will work as good as you imagine.

Nintendo may be announcing a traditional controller along side the tablet. It's a personal theory, but we know about as much about the controllers as the system itself.

It's 2012, not 2001.

Even the current selling wiis aren't supporting gamecube controller support.

As the Wii-U isn't compadible with Gamecube, that means we can't use the gamecube remotes. This also means that they will probably also release a standard remote with no screen on it but with all the buttons that the tablet remote has and maybe more (such as clickable thumb/ circle pads).

This also I played Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart with the Wii Remote on it's side and it was still good. All you have to do is adapt to it.

If Wii U supports the Wii Mote it'll support the classic controller too, which should be perfect for any future Smash Bros game.

Mario Kart will work well with Wiimote+Nunchuck

Smash Bros? i personally found the wiimote on its side best. it would have been the CCpro if not for the absolutely absurd fact that you can't use the dpad to move. who the hell enjoys moving in a 2D plane with an analog stick?

And that's already been confirmed by Nintendo themselves. All existing Wii controllers are said to work.

See above. I simply don't see Nintendo releasing yet another screenless gamepad design when the Wiimote + Classic Controller (Pro) combo is already compatible. They do need to add clickable analog sticks already, that's for sure...but then they'd fragment things even more than the current Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro distinction (because of the latter's lack of analog L and R).

The Wii U controller setup is a like a PS3/360, what else do you want damnit? Its just as comfortable, your hands will be be farther apart because of the screen but its STILL the same controller setup. I really dont see whats so wrong here, the Wii U Controller is perfect.

You use a gamecube controller for Mario Kart Wii??? That's far less intuitive than the Wiimote+nunchuck setup. The tricks and popawheelies become awkward on a gcn pad (having to remove your thumb from the analogue stick to perform them).

I have absolutely NO problems with the Wii U controller, In fact, I love it to death. My only problem is playing a game like Super Smash and when you have four hardcore players wanting to play on the same tv how are you going to do that when the Wii U can supposedly only use 2 controllers max?

Even though it hasn't been confirmed as to the maximum number of WiiU controllers that can be used at a time (there was a report some time ago that the WiiU can handle 4 WiiU controllers at once), the WiiU is compatible with all Wii peripherals. Therefore if the maximum is 2 then the other 2 players can use the Wiimote, Wiimote + Nunchuk, the Classic Controller or the Classic Controller Pro.

OH okay then, eh, dont worry Nintendo will probably show us the solution at E3
