I would be posting this in a Gamecube forum but I could find none, and since I'm playing on a Wii this seemed close enough. I started up a new save file in The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. Everything was going fine until when I first left Aryll's lookout tower to go to the Grandma's house. I started down the ladder, then Let Go as I normally do, and Link fell to the bottom. But upon landing on the dock, the controller stopped working. I pressed every button to no avail. I got up and unplugged the controller, then put it back in after a second and then it was fine. I have an extension cable so I figured it was because it was old or something, so I took off the extension and just plugged in the regular controller. Again, everything went fine until I accidentally rolled into a wall. After Link stood up again, I had lost the controller once more. Unplug, replug, everything fine. Roll into wall to check: lose controller. Unplug, replug, go fall from a high ledge and land with a thud: lose controller. These are the only two instances that I've experienced so far that make the controller stop working, so I'm not sure if there are more. I'm confused because the controller works PERFECTLY in all other games, even with the extension. I was playing Twilight Princess earlier this week and had no problems whatsoever. What are your recommendations? If I need to get a new controller, can I use a Wii Classic Controller with a Gamecube game? And related experiences? Any fixes you've found or think may work? I'd LOVE TO HEAR THEM!! :) Thanks for everything! UPDATE: Happens again if you mess up a move when learning to use a sword with Orca; Link gets thrown back. I'm sensing a pattern here..... ALSO when you're trying to learn how to parry; as soon as the A button glows blue, you lose control! At this rate I'll never even start this new file ;__;
It sounds like your controller doesn't like to vibrate. Check to see if you can turn off the rumble feature in the game options. I don't remember if you can or not on Wind Waker.
YOU ARE MY HERO, I have no idea why I didn't think to do this, I guess I just don't think about the rumble too much. Everything is working! I tried rolling into a few buildings and happily jumped off a cliff and I still have control! Thanks for responding so quickly, now I can keep my Zelda marathon going! :) You're awesome!
