I might be getting some VC games and i might also be getting some gamecube games, i would get a wavebird because it is wireless, i know that classic control doesnt work on gamecube games and that it works on some wii games, but it there any normal wii games where you can use the classic control and not the gamecube control

Basically, in short, what makes that classic control better than the gamecube control and is there any point in getting one if i get a wavebird instead?

Interesting question, I think the only major difference between the Gamecube controller and the classic controller is the fact the Gamecube controller isn't compatible with TurboGrafx-16, Neo-Geo and TurboGrafx-CD titles, however the Gamecube controller can play all the NES, SNES, N64 and most of the Genesis titles.

The Wii controller can play all of the TurboGrafx and NES titles, so in effect, if you don't really feel like swapping controllers to play your desired VC game, you could just buy a 'cla.ss.ic' (any idea why that word is filtered?) controller to facilitate these needs.

I find the classic controller a lot better for all VC games, except N64 games.

If you plan on downloading a lot of SNES games, the Classic controller is a must-have.

There you go, that's the main reason for the Classic Controller.

The Wiimote is best for NES games and the Gamecube controller is best for N64, but for SNES games you are going to be in a pickle playing them without the Classic Controller

I'm playing RE4 Wii with the classic controller. There are a few Wii games out that use it as well, it's not just for VC games.

Here's what I use mostly for the VC:

Wiimote: NES, Turbografx (I could add TG-CD), Sega Genesis (I have 2 games and they work perfectly on the wiimote)

Classic controller: SNES

GameCube controller: N64

Why? Playing an NES or SNES game with the Wii remote or Classic controller feels just like it did with an NES or SNES controller, and you don't have any wires to trip over.

Pros and cons:

Clasic controller works great for all games, GC controller is stupid for SNES games
GC controller won't waste your Wiimote batteries
GC Controller's analog sticks won't turn manky yellow after a few months of use
GC Controller doesn't have a stupid unexplained button on top off it
I think the clasic controller is more comfortable
Clasic controller is compatable with EVERY VC game

I like the mysterious button. It took me about ten seconds to figure out it was for some possible future attachment, so every time someone asks what it's for I feel a bit smarter.

Mind if I ask why? Isn't the wiimote + nunchuck controls the point in buying the Wii version of the game? From what I've heard, the controls are awesome for the Wii version. I'm a bit disturbed by the price of the Wii version, though. (it costs as much as a new Wii game here in Sweden), and if the price was the same here as in the states, I wouldn't hesitate to get it, just to get to play the game with the wiimote.

Nope, you can only use GameCube controllers to play GameCube titles.

Also, don't bump old threads, please.
