Games like Brawl and Mario Kart support the GC controller, but the list of games that allow the choice to be made is quite limited. Why doesn't nintendo just make every wii title compatible with the GC controller?

Because some games would be impossible to control wiithout motion sensetivity or they'd just suck a bunch more. How would excitebots or Wii Sports Resort be any fun if you played with the Gamecube controller? How would it be possible?

Devs are already having a hard enough time making games for the Wii

Why would you want them handcuffed even more?

This would just be another roadblock in the way of making a quality Wii games

If a dev wants to make a game and embrace a motion control scheme then so be it

The Classic controller can do anything the Gamecube controller can, so the only reason to include GC controller support is to be nice to people who have GC controllers. They don't make the GC controller anymore, and even the ones made by Nintendo eventually wear out, so the number of people that GC controller support benefits is getting smaller and smaller. Nintendo must figure it's not worth including GC controller support anymore. Plus, Nintendo would naturally rather have you buy a Classic controller.

I know the reason I bought a Wii was to get a feeling what motion controls would be like. If you want GC controls support for all games just get a GC.

Plus if you add in that EVERY game must have GC controller support that's just another hurdle that devellopers need to jump through thus bringing down not only the quality of games but also the quantity of games coming to the Wii.

And yet others games would be just fine with Gamecube controller support. Why not put in Gamecube controller support in a game like New Super Mario Brothers Wii?It's not like the game uses motion sensitivity to its fullest.

They do make the GC controller. My friend bought one not too long ago. It said "Wii" on the box, it doesn't have the "GameCube" text on it, and it's much lighter than a regular.

It also feels a lot cheaper than the old ones, so I greatly prefer the old ones, though.

But wouldn't you be better off to buy a Classic controller than some 3rd-party knockoff Gamecube controller?

If a developer has to include two sets of controls to EVERY wii game it could get expensive, im not an expert nor do i imply that i am, but to add more things into a game doesnt that make the budget go up? And not every developer would be willing to create two seperate game modes to be used by the wii Remote and the GC/Classic controller. I know that Mario Kart and SSBB does let you chose and it works well no matter what control scheme you are using, but would you really want to play metroid Prime or SMG with a gamepad other then the WII remote? I know i wouldn't.

I'm not saying you have to use the GC controller, I would just like the option.

Personally, if a game supports the CController it should probably support the GC controller too. Also with all the extra buttons the GC controller has, why couldn't they map the motion controls to the analog stick or a button push anyhow? They did it for punch out, they could have done it for mario galaxy (sure it would have made collecting star bits a challenge or you would need to find a 2nd player with the Wii mote) - they could have done it with wii sports... The reason of course is because flailing your arms around is 'new' and 'cool' from a 'wow this is so much more fun' standpoint... but really, most of the motion controls could have been mapped to the GC controller... except pointing games.

Most game consoles don't let you use the previous generations controller for its games. That's a pretty standard concept. The biggest reasons would be that having an option for a Gamecube controller for ever game would probably confuse some consumers and ruin the Wiiness of any given game. Also only 22 million Gamecubes were sold where as about 55 million Wii's have sold (according to Vgchartz.org). How many Gamecube controllers are actually out there? Especially since they haven't been made in years. It wouldn't really make sense to add that option in most games. Mario Kart and Smash Bros use it because many of its fanbase played it on the Gamecube and if Smash Bros didn't have the option for Gamecube controllers those crazy tournament people would have been mad.

you do realize if you would like to play a gamecube you can get them for quite cheap these days? The gamecube port is there for one reason and one reason only. to play gc games.

yea, and next time just tell them to diss the whole Wii and go back to GameCube.. Wii is Wii... Wii controllers are supposed to be used with Wii games... the only reason it has GC controller slots is because the wii is backward compatible with GC games... and thus beplayed with their native GC controllers

Mario Kart and Brawl are early titles, they probably figured that most GC owners (and Wii owners alike) didn't buy 4 controllers all at once, but they assumed that eventually, everyone would buy 4 if needed.... because Wii games should use Wii controllers.... that's why they're called as such... they were good to you that they even included full backward compatibility (the other 2 companies didn't.. or couldn't... but correct if i'm wrong, i don't have the other 2 consoles), now be grateful and buy 4 remotes if you really need them....

I'm not saying you have to use the GC controller, I would just like the option.

It would keep gaming the same and Nintendo wants to move it forward. Example would be when I play Mario Kart I use the GC controller because it's what I am use to. My son who is not use to a controller use the Wiimote. Watching him play I can see that you can avoid some of the weapons easier with the motion control over the GC. I can't stand using the motion control though. IMO this is in part because I am allowed to go backward rather than forward I will always go with what I am use to rather than open up and try new things.
