[QUOTE="lovetheblindone"]You have to either use the Cube control or the classic control.chris3116
GameCube games can't be played with cl assic controller.
Crap... I wasn't really thinking. Sorry topic creator.
yeah only cube controllers allowed, it's because all of the games are optimised for the button layout of the cube controller (I say all but I mean all that aren't cross platform or rubbish)
it's kinda a strive to sell GC controllers and memory cards, and to not load up an emulator that allows for differant controller play. As well as retaining the original play of the game
so basically, you gotta get cube gear and plug it in the top of the wii
No, there is a part on the top that opens to reveal GC control ports and for two memory cards slots.

Might as well get these games on the Wii... I got RE4 Wii edition, will get metroid etc... in other words, why buy gc since there are Wii editions here already or on the way. That is my opinion anyhow.
Might want to buy a wireless GameCube controller. Those wires were really short to begin with and how the ports are placed on the wii makes it nearly impossible to be more than five feet away from the TV.Giff1988
When I'm going GC or virtul console I put the Wii horizontaly, and store the games in the stand.

I know if you had read the rest of qhat I said you would have seen that. Since I did say that they would have had to use a emulator to change the way the controls run

Huh, I feel like a complete idiot buying all of those wireless controllers. I totally forgot you could lay it down horizontally like any other console.
i am about to get a wii, how do you go about playing gc games with the wii's controller format?glassjawbox
u dont. GC games have to be played with a GC controller or wavebird. the classic controller for VC games will not work, nor will the wiimote.
u also have to have a GC memory card..GC save games can not be put into the wii internal memory.
also note that any online game (like phantasy star online) will not work online with wii (though the offline play is fine).
the controller and card go into the side of the wii. after that...just plonk in any GC game disc into the wiis disc drive and off u go.
hopefully ninty find a way of allowing ppl to use the classic controller and internal memory with wii games in the future but i wouldnt get my hopes up.

Well, those were the GC games I've played on my Wii.also note that any online game (like phantasy star online) will not work online with wii (though the offline play is fine).

Of course the PSO titles were in fact the only online games for the GCN outside of Japan. The Phantasy Star GCN servers were shut down awhile back, so the lack of support is irrelevant now.
Wtf is so hard about what I'm saying?Wtf is so hard to understand you need GC controllers to play GC games?

Side Question, Will Gameboy Player work on the Wii?forgot_it
No. The Wii features neither of the GCN's expansion ports, making it impossible to connect the player (or modem/ethernet adapter).

That one may work. From the reviews I've read though, it didn't appear to be a very good product.
