Does anyone else wish that video game companies made games that are harder to beat. I mean you buy a game for 60 dollars and then you beat it in a week. I always find myself trying to prolong games I buy.

TP is 40+ hours long. Why would you want to prolong that?

Some games are to short and easy but not all and some games that take to long get boring and repetitive.

Many games these days are too easy, not only on the Wii. It's just the difference between old-school gaming and new-school gaming. Developers know that people enjoy games if they are able to beat it. If they experience frustration, they lose interest in the product. However, if they are able to beat all the obstacles and finish the game, that is when gamers sense a feeling of accomplishment when they beat a difficult game.

This may be a Wii forum, but the only example I can think of is on the DS. Flame me if you want.

I grew frustrated on FF3 for my DS because the gameplay was built after the original game for the SNES. Thankfully, I kept with it and felt accomplished when I finally beat it.

So, it may be a problem that games are getting too easy today because a smaller amount of people are able to feel that same, strong sense of accomplishment that I experienced on FF3, instead of feeling that "ok, woop-de-doo, I beat TP" feeling. On the other hand, easier games will still be entertaining if beaten therefore, in my opinion, expanding the audience because more people will be able to enjoy it.

I personally want old-school gaming back.

I don't really care too much about difficulty as long as the game is fun I'm cool with it.That said, optional difficulty modes should be standard in my opinion. People who find a game really difficult, frustrating or just not worth commiting the time to master need the opition to make the game easier and those who want a challange should have the option of a hard setting.

I agree that games are way too easy nowadays.  I look forward to VC for difficult games because the older systems like NES and SNES had the most difficult games.  Kid Icarus and Contra 3 are two games that were worth my Wii Points mainly for their above-average difficulty.  I hope VC comes out with Battletoads (NES) because that was one very difficult game.

Its not a port, completely built from ground up wii game.  I think they carried a course or two over from one of the other SSX's but the controls are enough to buy it.  It deserves better than a 7.4 as well, a really good solid title.

Agreed. I have put it down for the now to concentrate on Zelda. I am stuck on the 5th X mission of that game. I've finished the first 4 with both doctors.

I think the reason games are so easy now days is because the companies need to produce more and more games.  They want you to finish it and buy their sequal etc....   Also, we demand them to make new games faster now days.

Viewtiful Joe for the GameCube was a very tough game.  I couldn't beat the end part where you have fight all the bosses in a row.

The game is long, it took me 40 hours or so to beat it, but it's too easy.  Mainly the bosses.  Those things are just pathetic.

Length is cool, but I think that a degree of challenge is needed as well.  I know Metroid Prime 3 will be challenging, the first two were so I'm going off of an assumption, but I seriously hope that Mario Galaxy isn't easy... Oh man, how I hope...

Nonetheless, Trauma Center can be pretty difficult, so the guy who started this thread should try that one out.

I think Zelda is really more about the adventure than the challenge presented. For instance, a lot of people go crazy for ALttP, but I'm not a big fan because it's short on story and too difficult in the beginning to really delve into. In the later 3d games, you're taught everything so gradually that it's really easy to take in. Plus the format has been the same for 10 years now, so if you've played the ones before there's no learning curve at all. And again in TP's defense, I think that Wii controls make the combat system a lot easier. I haven't played the GC version, so I don't know, but I did find it easier than Wind Waker and that was because of the combat system. Super Mario Galaxy should be a good challenge, if Sunshine is to be any indication, same with Metroid Prime 3. Also, a lot of the really old games' difficulty comes from the inability to save often, if at all. If you want to beat Super Mario Brothers, you have to plow through the whole thing (unless you have it on VC) in one sitting. Think about how much easier the save feature alone has made games. I think it's a good balance for the most part nowadays. LoZ : Minish Cap was one of my favorites. A good, long journey with a good story, but not too challenging. And I still felt rewarded at the end because I got absolutely everything to get in the game.

If you want hard games get Tramua Center (either version they both are HARD)

SSR is also increadibly hard but very rewarding to do it well.

I also here that SSX is a Very good game which is also hard.

Another suprisingly  hard game is Tanks on wiiplay there is 100 levels but i have only every made it to 50.

Monkey ball also gets hard fast still working my way thought that, but its not that hard a game in all.
