What do you think of this review? I'm not going to follow it. I'm going to buy what I please.

Ouch. I wanted castlevania Judgement, though I'm not going to let GS's review stop me. I'll see what others say and think of the game, reviewers and users.

a bit oldC-LeeHow is it old? It was posted today less than an hour ago... Yeah, I was kinda wondering why people were saying it was old. Anyway, I choose to not listen to GS reviews atm. Kinda off topic, but GS giving KH:CoM a 6.5 is just saddening.
Let me rephase that....
Castlevania Judgement is a solid fighting game, with good arcade style graphics and deserves a much better score then a 3.0.
Just out of curiosity, what in the review do you disagree with?NOBODY LISTEN TO THIS REVIEW!!!
This is a ****ing Outrage!!!
I've played through the entire game, all the modes and I unlocked all the characters!
It's a SOLID FIGHTING GAMEand deserves at least a 6.0-7.5.
I'd rate it a solid 8.0 but i'm no GS reviewer.
There is no way in hell this game deserves a 3.0!!!

The reviewer complains mostly about a lack of variety in attacks, completely unbalanced characters, and a terrible camera, all of which add up to a lack of fun. Are these issues not as bad as he says they are?

I read the review, It was Okay. :? I just have a problem with the low review score.
- The camera is works alright
- I used the classic controller and there were enough attacks to satisfy
- the characters are as balanced as any other arcade fighter.

So you agree with the issues brought up? You agree that they're present? Yes there are minor issues. All I'm trying to say is it's a good game and worth checking out regardless of this terrible score.[QUOTE="clicketyclick"][QUOTE="slimdave21"]So you agree with the issues brought up? Well, they may be minor issues to you, but a lack of depth to fighting, waggle-tastic controls, unresponsive controls, and a lack of balance between characters are critical flaws to a fighting game. According to the rating guide, a game with that score's "positive qualities most likely serve only to make the rest of it seem even more disappointing." That sounds to be a fairly accurate description of the game that is lacking in the requisites for a fighting game. I mean, the very least a person can expect from a fighting game is good balance between characters and a responsive, untiring control scheme. No?

It only took me a second to figure out at the WiiMote-Nunchuck control scheme was unplayable.
I quickly switched to the Classic controller and the controls were great. Anyways I'm not one to continuiously argue so i'll just spot here.

Indeed. And yet still without the wiimote, it retains the problem of a lack of balance and depth to the controls, as you agree. Those are serious problems in a fighter, so I'm not sure how you can think that it in no way deserves the score it got.
Nor am I sure how you can in good conscience recommend this game to others, knowing how poorly it's been received. I mean, I've certainly liked games that were given low scores, but I wouldn't just insist they're good games and recommend them to everyone.
The low scores are an indicator that a game probably won't be appreciated by just anyone but instead, only by a small number of people. You kinda need qualifiers on your recommendation, I'd think, especially when you agree that the problems brought up in the review are actually present.

Bravo. I wish a lot of people on these forum could understand that. As a fan of a franchise it's easy to get lost in the things you love. I'll admit, I'm a Final Fantasy VII fanboy, but there is no way I would recommend Dirge of Cerberus. That's unless you were a hardcore follower of Cloud and company. Shoot, I am still debating on getting Sonic Unleashed. I played the demo on the Xbox 360; I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Personally, I just miss Sonic from the Genesis days and the sense of speed.
3.0. That is a terrible score! Wow!

Fitting for a terrible game. I couldn't reccomend it to anyone, a fan of the series or not. You guys are better off geting Ecclesia.

The only single Castlevania game I've ever played before this game is Super Castlevania IV on the Virtual Console.
By no means am I fan of the series and I still think Castlevania Judgement a good game.
[QUOTE="TAKE_IT_BACK"]Hm. On metacritic, its a49. Guess IGN gave it the only good score.ChojutoWow the reviews for Castlevania Judgment range from 16 to 75 (out of 100), that's crazy!
If people take issue that GameSpot's score was "harsh," look at the other reviews, esp. X-Play's.
Looking at the gameplay, I knew that Judgment will not score very well. People on this forum were right months ago about being skeptical about this game when it was first revealed. I never knew that Castlevania Judgment would be this year's Soul Calibur Legends.
And finally, what is with the large breast envy by Maria and the poor fashion tastes by the characters?

I own the game when it came out. I am still having fun with it today. It's not as broken as gamespot cliams it to be... IGN is more spot on then Gamespot's review. The game is not broken and the character are not that unbalanced. There is a bit of strategy to it. The way to best opponents is to know what your chacater can do (his or her move set)... and knowing the opponents move set too. The sub weapons don't do much damage but I can't tell you at times they have saved me in fights. To me it sounds like Gamespot didn't really want to at least enjoy this game from the start. I play with the wiimote and nunchuck set up and let me tell you.. it plays great. I have no problems getting the attacks to come out. Gamespot didn't even mention that the music is great fan service to the game! The characters aren't that bad and they move great.. if you can get over some of the design to some.. but the others aren't bad at all.
Also the online battles I have, had be great so far. There is not too much lag.. and the fights has run smoothly... I had so far about 3 battles out of 26 battles that were really really laggy.
All in all... gamspot just didn't want to give this game a full chance... they were like ok we have to review this silly thing.. and played it for few hours cause they must... and just wrote a crappy review.. without really sitting down and giving the game a chance it deserve!
Rent it and see for yourself.. but DON'T judge this game cause of Gamespot's review!!!
(PM me here if you added my Wii Code &/Or any of my game codes... Give me your code so I can add ya!)
Thanks for your input slimdave and UltraCell. It's more productive to talk about what's correct and incorrect in a review than to simply complain that the score is too low and wrong without giving any specifics.
I'd also suggest writing up a user review, if that's your thing. Gamespot has user reviews in order to provide additional opinions of the games, so if you think there are serious flaws in the main review, give us a review that you think is more accurate.

Ah, but are you a fan of fighting games? I suspect you likely aren't, which is why you don't see button-mashing, repetitive fighting that lacks depth and character balance as a serious issues with a fighter. Such failures can even be seen as benefits to a person not into arcade fighters, because it gives them an opportunity to tip the scales in their favour and gives them a shot at winning against a long-time player. A game that leans on dexterity and luck more than skill and practice favours people who aren't longtime fans of the genre.

The very purpose of reviews is to inform the reader about how they will be best served in spending their money and give them an idea of how much they'll enjoy the game. There are so many games out there that it is simply unfeasible for most people to rent every single game that gets a lower score because a few fans command them to.
What always floors me every time GameSpot puts up a review is watching people yell about how they disagree completely and that they want their voice to also be heard on the issue, and then in the same breath go on to completely and unfairly dismiss everyone else's opinion - everyone else didn't give the game a chance, only played it for a few hours, etc. etc. Everyone who disagrees with them wrote a crappy review, and only their opinion is valid!
Rather than not having given the game a chance or played more than a few hours, how about some people don't just agree with your opinion, ja? In fact, not just some people: most people. How about you represent a minority opinion and a minority experience and that if everyone were to take your advice, most would find that they had wasted their money and their time?

I wouldn't make that assumption. I've been playing fighting games since the arcade days of Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct. I can safely say that Castlevania Judgement does have some depth and strategy to the moves list, otherwise I wouldn't of even played it. When comparing it to a top-tere fighting series like Soul Calibur, Tekken, or Marvel VS. Capcom... It holds it's own as a solid fighting game.

I stand corrected, Everything with the GTA name scores in the extreme high 9's. Yep gotta get the ol' senses checked, they are all off. The fact of the matter is, I never trust gamespot reviews after MK Deadly Alliance scored an 8.1 and Tales of Symphonia 2 gets a 6.5. MKDA WREAKED PATUNIA'S!!!! I have to play the games for myself.

Really quite a persistent nasal passage issue! May I suggest nyquil or something? ;)
