At least check the controls part so you can debunk it if it's not true. I'm always skeptical of reviewers' opinions of Wii controls since I've had very few troubles, yet some reviewers seem to never understand how to work the thing...well, i did not read it. The entire review just sounds like the reviewer is bashing the game because he's not good at tennis. He complains about the learning curve; tennis isn't an easy sport where you can just pick it up and be as good as a professional. You need to take time and practice if you want to be good, something the reviewer obviously didn't bother to do.
Gamespot's has been dissapointing me a lot with their bias reviews, I can't really trust them when it comes to games anymore.
Personally, if a game like GST has a large learning curve involving Wii Motion Plus is compelling. I love sports, and I love learning how to master moves. The fact that pretty much all the negatives were to do with the learning curve excites me. It sounds like a good game, mastering and perfecting shots n all.
What did IGN give this?skingusThey gave it an 8.5, which is about what I would give it. It's true that there is a fairly steep learning curve with M+, but that's how it should be. It is really satisfying to feel/see your skill level improving the longer you play and get the feel for the game, growing in confidence to the point where you can put the ball wherever you want. I'm glad that there is a challenge involved. You don't just walk onto a real tennis court and blow people away straight away, you have to put in the effort to improve your skills. Same goes with Grand Slam Tennis. The only real downside to the game, for me, is the fairly limited career mode and lack of tournaments outside of the 4 Grand Slams.
I haven't made my mind between Grand Slam and Virtua Tennis yet. But this review didn't help at all!
So much text describing game modes, the lack of a tennis tutorial and bla bla bla and it doesn't really mention what really matters: the controls!
I thought they would get a couple of reviewers who actually play tennis in real life weekly and they would explain us if the controls really feel good or wrong. Instead they got a n00b that probably isn't even holding the Wiimote right and reviews the game as if it was played with a standard controller. All he cares is about game modes, sound effects, graphics...§#%@!
Just notice how the word "MotionPlus" is only said once in the whole review!
Why the hell would the reviewer include the steep learning curve in "The Bad" section of the review??? Not all games are easy and sometimes a steep learning curve is good. Very stupid and disapointing review. I can no longer stand GameSpot reviews, there not good.
maybe they expect wii owners to want easy games :roll:Why the hell would the reviewer include the steep learning curve in "The Bad" section of the review??? And they say teh Wii is for teh casuals, yet the so called hardcorez gamerz complain when a learning curve is required.... No challenge = no fun. I like to feel like I accomplished something when I play a game, and that goes for video games as well as actual activities like playing tennis. Please Log In to post.
