Eh, March 15th or DOA and Samurai Warriors, but also $49.99 games in there

Geez, lets hope that is wrong but honestly, its more likely to have a place holder date, but a place holder price? Thats GS going out of their way to actually estimate a price, or they know something

Also, its worth mentioning that if they come out on a Tuesday, March 15th, that means the 3DS comes on a Sunday right? All Ninty consoles launch on Sundays

Well, logically if these are making the launch date, why not ship them on Sunday the 15th? Because its launching before that

I'm guessing March 6th with Pokemon (would totally explain the lack of solid launch titles to ride off a DS game) or March 13th. I mean they do want to sell 2.5 million NA/EU units before March 31st

Wii and DS games came out the Tuesday before the systems did. For example, Feel the Magic came out on the 16th when the DS launched on the 21st. The same thing could be happening here.

Very True.

but that made no sense in 2004 for the DS, or in 2006 with the Wii and it makes little more sense to ship a game without a system to play it on in 2011.

This whole 3DS thing just seems too expensive (to me at least). The only reason I ever even got into the DS was because I rarely ever paid more than 19.99 for my games. I only paid 30.00 for 3 games in 4 years: New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart, and LoZ: PH. 49.99??? I'd rather just play those games on the PS3.

I wonder if Nintendo is going to experience a lot less crossover traffic between their 2 consoles now. The DS and Wii were both affordable to have and buy games for-- people could easily buy their Wii games and a few DS games too because they were cheaper.

I wonder how many people will see those prices and decide to skip the 3DS altogether and just go straight to the good $5-10 games on Ipod. I am a big Nintendo handheld fan (I bought an original Gameboy the week it came out)-- but 3DS seems to have a completely different strategy than all of Nintendo's previous handheld generations. I hope they know what they are doing because the margin for error is lower than it has ever been before.

It is weird, but maybe it's just to guarantee you have some games by then. It's better than having the system launch before the games though.

If nothing else, it narrows the release date down, theoritically

Its either the Sunday after that date, the 20th, if your guess is correct

Or one of the two sundays before the 15th, in which case it wouldn't make sense to ship on the 15th if it was coming out the 13th, so I'm guessing the 6th, or 20th of March (hoping 6th!)

Why are pepole giving any credence to these rumors? Gamestop has never gotten the scoop on new releases. Let's just wait for the official announcement.

Why are you hoping for March 6th? You're not actually planning on buying a 3DS, are you? That would be a major plot twist since all you do is criticize the system.

While the release dates might be off, the prices could be accurate. Gamestop has to order the games at some point, which includes buying them. They very well may know pricing information.

Assuming that pricing is accurate (and it's probably not), why is it crazy? This is what baffles me about the 3DS. If you were take a system with the same capabilities as the 3DS -- the Wii, for instance -- and allowed people to hook it up to their TVs then they wouldn't bat an eye at the price. But take that same system and make it portable and suddenly the price becomes outrageous. Can anybody explain the logic behind this?

It's crazy when compared to what PC and console games retail for. There is no way the production cost for 3DS games are the same as the aforementioned platforms. So why should the games be priced the same?

You cleary haven't payed attention to my posts. I've always said I'm buying it at launch. What on earth us wrong with having complaints about a product you like? I like my 360 but do I wish things were different about it, like less rrod? Of course. This is nintendo. They always give us plenty to critize when it comes to their hardware. ( let alone launch hardware) If you don't voice your concerns they will never be answered.

I think people got use to $34.99 because fir some reason GBA/DS stayed the same price, but realistically the tech leap that gen is much smaller than the leap from DS to 3DS. While I dislike seeing $50 handheld games, I accept it as an inevitable cost of tech advancing to the point it is today

I'm expecting most games to come in at around 40, while games like pokemon and mario will be 45, and square enix games will be 50. I don't see a problem with paying that for a game that will give me DAYS worth of enjoyment.

There's nothing wrong it. It just surprises me that all I see from is griping and criticism and yet you're still planning to buy the 3DS on day-one. It brings to mind the Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons who exits a theater and proclaims, "That is the worst movie I have ever seen. I shall post a scathing review on my blg. After I've seen it 6 more times. Today." And then he turns around and walks right back into the theater.

Evidentally you haven't been paying attention either.

What I'm excited for, in case you missed all the other posts I've made in the last year

-Better Online through more online players, since the 3DS can handle up to 32 player games, no more 4 player Mario Kart with 3 people dropping coz they are sore losers

-Better graphics. Even if it was PSP level I'd be happy, but it appears to be slightly above that.

-Save and run everything off the SD card, unlike the DSi and Wii

-Transferrable DSiWare

-Bigger Game Cards (up to 8GB)

Now, of course I have complaints, like the lower resolution screen, and lack of internal memory. well the lack of a substantial amount of internal memory

I understand why they don't put more than 1GB-2GBs inside, coz it ships with a 2GB SD card. But I personally wish it had at least 8GBs internally. The mixing of motion controls probably distorting the 3D effect, and no 3G or Wireless N confirmed. Also, no multi-touch.

I went from being the crazy guy who recognized that the DSi was a whole new system (and still is because of DSiWare) to being the crazy guy who doesn't like the 3DS.

I'm sorry I don't post threads about "oMG da GRAFFIX". Seeing as I am a consumer I'd rather talk about the constructive criticisms I have for the unit before launch, and hope somebody at Nintendo hears it.

Cruse34

Hated on? Are things really this black and white?

Can't we have a discussions about the pro's and con's of the device? And I was always the person posting threads on how excited I was for the DS2, and then the 3DS, and how I hoped it would come out in Fall 2010, why i thought it would, why I was wrong, and how excited I am for Star Fox 64 (I've said numerous times that I hope it has online multiplayer ) and Paper Mario, Mario Kart, Mercs 3D (looks like shallow fun, but a lot of fun nonetheless) and the remake of one of the greatest games of all time, ok two remakes of two great games (MGS3 and OOT)

And Bruno, that post wasn't directed entirely at you, so I apologize for quoting you and making it seem that way

I just really, really hate this attitude of pure 3DS dominance, that no single one of us who are consumers want to questions things about the device and hope to change it in the future. Bruno, you do not have this attitude. But the internet in general has it.

The only way we will change things is if we respond with our voices and our money.

Evidentally we haven't done enough to stop friend codes from being in the 3ds, and in turn very likely to be in the Wii 2, because Street Fighter confirms they are there, to what extent we don't know. Could be one per system, which really wouldn't be bad (a user name would be preferable but hey i'm ok with a single long code) I will be enjoying 3DS games the whole time I own one, launch until whenever, and I will accept the device for its strengths and weaknesses, like I did with the Wii and DS, I just don't want to hear people complaining when they realise all the hardware issues after launch Nintendo is known for, being short sighted and all.

If people on this forum, and people on the internet, are willing to crown the 3DS the winner of next generation, and throw their dollars at Nintendo without as much as saying one criticism of the device, don't complain when Super Meat Boy gets canned on WiiWare because they can't get the file size down or don't want to deal with Nintendo's silly downloadable pricing schemes, try to do something about it when the device is coming out, and maybe just maybe they will fix it sooner rather than later.

Whether its losing 3rd party support due to lack of space on Cartridges 10 years ago, lack of storage on Mini-DVDs, or lack of storage on the console's internal memory, or silly pricing schemes that make small/big developers wait to see returns on WiiWare/DsiWare sales, lack of Wii Motion Plus at launch, Nintendo hardware always has a flaw, usually more than one. I can't say I expect 3DS to be any different, I just hope it to be less so.

Now I Know people aren't going to read that wall of text, so I'll summarize if you've gotten this far: Don't complain in a year or two if you're going to blindly praise a product and hand over your money to any business when you realise the product you bought isn't everything you want/need it to be.

You're right, I didn't read the massive wall of text but I read the last bit so thanks for summarizing it. I have seen very negative post by you but I don't see anything wrong with that. I thought that most things you have said were relevant complaints. Except for the thing about RE might not be able to hold framerates when it releases. I don't think capcom would do such a thing. That being said, most things you say are pretty good arguments. As for the price? Eh I've done all the math and have always used a worst case scenario, so I'm ready for anything.

At this point I don't see the big difference between paying 50 for a game on any of my systems. I just want there to be good content.

And to Mr Darth sir you have hated on the 3DS almost everyday since it was announced

Hated on? Are things really this black and white?

Thanks. I understand I can be a bit over zealous with my posts, and forgive me if I am ever too dramatic at times.

Yea I'm good for that worst case scenario, and I hope Capcom makes Revelations look awesome when it comes out just like it looks in previews right now

Why so many people is freaking out on this? you don't have to have the games on day one, buy them when they drop price or even used then. Same to the console itself. Is really up to you when and IF you want to buy it or buy games for other console. In the end you know it will drop price and there will be options to buy it. I'm pretty sure the price won't be the main drawback for the majority of people

Well most reports point to 3DS games costing (obviously all depends on varying factors) 2-3 times as much as DS games.

So logically, I'd expect some price increase if costs are going to go up.

Hopefully not too much, though Nintendo said they will stay the same price I trust them, but I won't mind paying $39.99 instead of $34.99

GameStop release dates are just estimates. They estimated that Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword would be released in April, and that's not happening. If you want the real deal, wait for Nintendo to say what the dates and prices are themselves.

See, I don't mind paying $40 for a game. That's what I originally thought the cost would be. I would be surprised if they cost $50. That being said, I'm still going to buy the games so I guess it doesn't really matter.

Price for a game doesn't really bother me. If it's a game I want, then I will pay the money for it.
