yes you WILL be able to play gc games on the wii if you get them cables..you just have to be sure to hold down the B button on the gc controller right after you start the game from the wii menu.
if the game was made to support ps then it will ask you if you want to play in ps mode...select yes then enjoy :D
About 75% of GC games support proscan. I used to have my GC hooked up with component cables. All units before 2004 or so had a component out. You actually don't have to hold the B button down on GC games played with the Wii. I've noticed it already does that for you, all you have to do is agree to run it in proscan when each game asks.
