I really wanna get pokemon diamond, but platinum version is just 2 or 3 months away.
Would you say it's worth waiting for platinum? How much better will it be than diamond/pearl?

I suggest that you wait for platinum, unless you are a really big pokemon fan that wants to get every pokemon game. If you get Diamond now you may enjoy it, but as soon as platinum comes out you might feel like you made the wrong choice when you see the improvements that were made in it. Most people who play pokemon usually don't have the patience to wait for the third version(Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum) and just get one of the two that are released first(red/blue, gold/crystal, etc.). Some people who end up getting one the first two also end up getting the third version just for the changes. You are lucky because the release date for the third one is already out and not to far away, so you won't have to wait too long. I personally think that you should just wait and get Platinum. If you absolutely have to have diamond/pearl then try getting it used or for a low price so that you can also get Platinum.
Here are some improvements from diamond/pearl to platinum from Serebii.net
- The Sinnoh dex contains 210 Pokemon compared to the 151 of D/P(basically you have a larger variety of pokemon at your disposal before you get the national dex)
- You are able to get some Pokemon in Platinum that you couldn't get in D/P, without transferring them from the GBA games like the Three Legendary birds(Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres) and more.
- 3 of the Pokemon from D/P have new forms in Platinum (one of them has 5 new forms) if certain conditions are met. These forms were not in D/P, so if you try to get the pokemon to try and change form in Platinum and then be sent to D/P it won't work, and the Pokemon will just change back into their base form, as their data are not in D/P
- There are some new areas in Platinum that weren't in D/P, with the biggest one probably being the Distortion World, which is in a completely different dimension, which deals with the new story in pokemon Platinum and a new form to one of the Pokemon that was in D/P
- Platinum has a battle frontier like in Emerald, which is not present in D/P
- All the gym leaders are given some new small animations during battle that were not seen in D/P, many of the gyms have recieved upgrades with more puzzles and a better design, and some of the gym leaders pokemon rosters have changed
- The Elite Four have also had a change in roster to go along with the larger Sinnoh dex, and they can be fought again after you get the national dex with stronger Pokemon.
- Some new characters are introduced and the story is improved with a different storyline. The climate is also different in Platinum, which means your character is dressed warmer in Platinum and you may find snow in random places in Platinum that you wouldn't see in D/P.
- A lot of the Pokemon in Platinum have had their sprite changed from D/P(can be an improvement or not based on whether or not you like the new sprites
There are many more changes, mostly small, that have been added to Platinum, that I don't feel are necessary to mention(if you want to see them, go to serebii.net). it all depends on you but with the release date so close, I think you should wait for the release of Platinum. It's your choice, so look at the improvements and hear the other users opinions and decide whether or not to you, are there enough changes from D/P to make me want to buy Platinum?

notyalemblem
Sweet!!! With all these changes I am defiantly getting it.
i really have to say this im sick of everyone posting weather or not to buy pearl or dimaond or wait for plat theres been thousnds of these posts please stop posting this topicdsmyloverThe mods will lock it if they want to. It's not anyone's place/duty but a mod to tell someone to not post. And I would much rather see twenty topics on Pokemon decisions than all the spam topics about the dsi that you have started (all with no punctuation or capitalization-also annoying).
To the TC- wait for Platinum! I have never played pokemon; Platinum will be my first! I've been waiting for months, but it's so close now!
