So, I will probably get my ds lite on friday afternoon, it is a white one and I'm getting Mario Kart DS also.

I've been watching videos and reading forums, and I just wanted to ask, is there anything to do to prevent the white ds lite buttons turning yellow? Many people say that they turn yellow soon :( . Anyways, I'm reallywaiting for friday to test the ds lite :D

I actually bought my ds lite used, it's a white one, besides the casual dirt that is easy to clean off, I haven't noticed a whole lot of discoloration despite all the use. That was one of my worries too of getting a white one..but heck I'd be more concerned about a hinge crack...but that's just me :)

The yellowing of the buttins only occurs for some people. Its all about the chemistry of your body, seriously.

i think the sweat from your fingers is what turns it yellow, so if you dont sweat it wont turn yellow. unfortunately sweating is inevitable while stressing yourself out trying to beat a game.

Yep... it's true... your body can make some funky chemical reactions happen. Some people have different Ph levels (acidity& alkaline levels in your body)... you might remember a deoderant commercial from the last ten years where they say that women's Ph levels can differ drastically from men...

Not everyone's buttons are going to change color, but some will. Your hands will do some nasty things to a controller... look at the finger cheese that builds up on the base of the thumb sticks on a well-used controller some time! :P

(Sorry to convey that nasty image if you're eating right now... P.S. - I'm not a doctor, I just play one on this gaming forum... for further information on your body and the corrosive sludge it produces, see the Google-meister.)

Yeah, I saw a hinge crack once... Only a wire connected the two peices...

It still worked! Truly!

haha, i'm sure if you wash your hands regularly you won't get yellowed buttons. people that complain about it are probably filthy slobs that don't wipe too often.
