I know that this topic probably gets beaten to death, but I'm getting a DS soon, and I'm torn between the white and the black. I think black might be cool, but I get really weird about fingerprints and stuff like that, so I might want white... I know it's not that big of a deal, but if you guys want to give some pros and cons, it would be much appreciated.
Well when I upgraded my DS to a DS lite there really was only one choice for me - white all the way!
Like you say, scratches, fingerprints etc. don't show up as much on the white ds, and personally I just think it looks a lot more slick and smart than the black version (plus I would be overdoing black with my ps2, xbox and ipod). This isn't biased - my cousin has a black one so I've been able to make direct comparisons.
Also, if you have a wii like I do then the white DS lite just goes with it so much better!
Pros about White:Fingerprints can't be seen easily,blends with the Wii(If you have one that is). Cons about White:The shoulder buttons get yellowish after a year or so(Even if you wash your hands before each play,for some reason the shoulder buttons will change color),any crack/scratches can be seen easily. Pros about Black:Shoulder colors don't change color,has a more sleek&sexy look to it,cracks/scratches can't be seen easily. Cons about Black:Fingerprints can be seen easily(But,if you purchase a cleaning cloth[$1-$3],this isn't a problem),doesn't blend with the Wii(If you have one that is). I would advise you to pick your Ds based on how much and where you're going to be using it,if you're going to be using it alot(e.g 3-5 hours a day),definately get the black Lite.
get black. do you really care that much about fingerprints? its a freakin handheld!! Black just looks cooler and thats what I got, it was the only smart choice for me (plus it matches with my mac and ipod).
my first ds was black. i was really unhappy wit it. cuz when u play happy games wit it, it looks sad. so i got a white eventually. happy wit it. the colors blended in the white frame. i'm happy.
Here are a couple of neat but almost useless facts. Black colored objects and rooms tend to look small and cramped. Lighter colored objects tend to look bigger and more spacious. Black colored objects also tend to collect and store more heat. White and lighter colored objects tend to reflect that heat and are cooler to touch. Dunno if this helps with your decision at all, but I hope it does. :)
Black DS collects finger prints as easily as Eastern European whores collecting STDs. The first day I got my black DS it looked like it had been man-handled by pack of greasy handed downs children (retards).
I had to make that same decision last week when i got my first DS. I got white and love it. Black looks good, but it looks regular. This is probably dumb, but when I play mine at work tons of people comment on how cool it looks. Of course most of those people aren't gamers though. I'd leave black to SONY if i were you.
