I'm getting one or the other, but I'm not sure which one offers the most for your money. I'm mainly interested in the drums. I was impressed with the drum demo video for GHWT, but I don't really know what the improvements for the RB2 drums are.

I don't really care too much about all the different game modes... I just want to play songs, have access to DLC, and have the better drumkit of the two. I've taken a look at the set lists for each game, and I honestly like the RB2 list better, but there are some songs on GHWT (namely the Tool songs) that are just awesome.

Anyways, can some more knowlegable folks lay out the differences between the two (Wii versions, of course)? I was actually doubtful of RB2 after how RB1 was just kind of dumped on to the Wii, but I'm starting to hear that it will actually be better than GHWT. Anyways... thanks for any info! :)

it boiled down to this for me. ive been playing gh since it came out so i guess i have a bias towrds it but:

both games have some of the same songs and neither games setlist blows u away, honestly both setlists are mostly trash

I hate the rock band instriments, the guitar stinks they tried to make it look like a real guitar which takes away the playablilty and functionality of it and the new ghwt guitar is freakin sweet it rules.

the drum kit for rb it good but i like the gh one so much better it has an drum and has symbols set up like a real drum kit.

i was gunna get rb for the wii for my bday but then i saw ghwt was coming out so i switched my preorder and so glad i did. my friend got rb and i played it and i didnt like it at all the guitar sucks and the note chart looks weird

and ghwt for the wii is gunna have dlc aparrently, unless u really like rb my advice would be to get ghwt and plus it has the music studio where u can make ur own songs which is cool and u can jam with a band of miis

I think RB is the better investment at the moment

It seems tht the GH drumset is experiencing problems right now i.e red pad not working etc. etc. also Rock Band knows how to make a solid multi-instrument game so it has the experience. On another note Activision promised that its instruments would be cross compatible but now they have "prohibited" the usage of third party (rockband) instruments. Just seems likes poor marketing on Activisions part

according to what i interpreted from the ign review is that RB2 would be better for the 360/ps3 and the wii would be better for GHWT, personally i prefer GHWT

I'm comparing GHWT vs. RB2. Both will have DLC.

If drums are your main focus, then go with GH for its superior drumset. Its a really good game, but there are some minor problems with it. For one, i like the Rock Band interface better. I find everything to be more clear and you can easily see how your band is doing if you are playing with a group of friends. In guitar hero, everything is small and in the corner so it could be hard to see while you are playing.

Also, I think it may just be my TV, but I have a lot of trouble reading the lyrics to songs in guitar hero. I have a standard 30" TV, but its a pretty good one for what it is. It is very frustrating not being able to see the words properly!

Will duels and battle mode style attacks be part of GHWT? That's one thing I didn't really enjoy about GH3. I liked the RB formula of just focusing on playing the song as best as possible without having to worry about opponents.

I just looked at the two set lists and I can honestly say there are more songs on the RB2 list that I know and like, but not by much. Both games have songs that I really want to play (GHWT has Tool, RB2 has NiN as DLC).

But I can pass on particular songs if the overall experience, especially the drums, is better on the other game. I'm still pretty torn betwen the two. I'm slightly leaning towards RB2, but I really want the superior drum kit.

Hmm... that's some good info, as I'll be playing whichever I get on a 27" sdtv, lol. Yeah, I know.. behind the times, yadda yadda :P It's either buy new games or buy a new TV... what's a guy to do? lol

if you want DLC, go with GHWT.

RB2 has DLC, but they are not (or at least havent said anything yet) having it playable off the SD card like GH.

So it wastes up your wii memory which needs to be used for other things like VC/Wiiware. GH playes directly off of SD card so you dont need to worry about that

From what I've played there is a battle mode feature, but it is strictly on multiplayer. They still do have guitar duels against other NPCs, but they seem to be just pro face offs now, where you're not allowed to let the opponent steal all the attention on the meter. It gets fairly frustrating, seeing how I'm already having many issues try to deal with the end solo of Zakk Wylde's challenge...

And from what I've played on the drums, it's rather sturdy. The only issues I've run across it is that I accidentally hit the red pad a little too high, which causes me to hit the cymbol on my way up, messing me up. though that's an issue I gotta work out myself. :P I'll say that they(RedOctane) made a very sturdy drum kit if you have one of the functional ones. :)

ALL Rock Band DLC and all but 3 songs from the original Rock Band can be downloaded on the Wii version to an SD card. No other Wii game does this. Rock Band 2 FTW!

It is still a possibility that the instruments will be cross compatible. It is also entirely possible that one set of instruments will work on one game but not the other. In this case you pretty much have to get that game even if you like the other instruments better. Go to   http://www.joystiq.com/Instrument-Compatibility-Matrix/ every once in a while to see if they've said whether or not they will be compatible.

P.S. if they're not at all I'd pick GHWT for better instruments and the regular notes and noteboard. Though the band play is better for Rock Band.

Honestly i'm not sure how it would be possible for Rock Band 2 to be better than guitar hero world tour. Simply because World Tour is truely Awesome! The guitar is very comfortable to use and the buttons dont stick like rock band's do. The graphics are very colorful and present a very attractive look to the game. The online play is sick, head to head rock battles or play with your friends online as a band. I have had the game since it launched at midnight, if you have any questions feel free to ask them. I give it a 9/10.

"Rock Band 2″ owners get to export their "Rock Band" songs for a small fee. As a Wii owner, can I do that, too?

Nope. That feature was added post-release as a patch on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Nintendo doesn't allow patches, which means that functionality can't be added to "Rock Band." Maybe next time, but don't count on it."

SD card support is the only thing confirmed that you got right.  Rock Band 1 DLC will be available, but not the original setlist.
