If you never played it on any of the other consoles, buy it, definitely. I was initially skeptical but I picked it up anyway, and I'm glad I did. It's been the only thing I've been playing for the past 2 weeks.
The Godfather is a demostration of exactly how a Wii game should be done, PERFECT controlls, no unnecassary motions. Both aiming and punshing feels very good and intuitive, I doubt it even comes close to as fun to beat down some other gangster with regular gamepad controls. It has a long and great story with huge amount of sidequests and stores to take over. It should keep you busy for about 20h first time playing and I think it's a game you (at least I) can go back to and play through again after letting it rest for a couple of weeks. If like any GTA-style game you should definively get The Godfather.
Although I've found a small bug, if you chose the camera turning to be inverted it will also be inverted while "free-aming", so when you aim on the left side of the screen the camra will go right.
