Do you want bad language? What purpose does it serve in a game? Anyway, Godfathers language is rather tame.... but judging by the previews, scarface should be quite the opposite.

Its not as frequent as San Andreas but when it hit's you notice. Its usually during cut scene's though so its no different to watching an adult film, other times your character swears is when you hijack a car. I hope your actually old enough to be playing it though. Parents that let kids play these games is how they get a bad name.

No parents that do not care or know that their children are playing these games is what give them bad names. If a parent knows that their child is playing a mature game, but is not old enough to buy it, that is fine, as long as the parent bought it for the kid. Believe it or not, there are actually kids out there that are mature enough to understand a game is fictional and can play M rated games and not do stupid things. So you should rephrase that to parents that don't know what their kids are playing and whose kids are aggressive or violent are the ones that give these games the bad rep.

Language is less than scarface. I'd say it has less swearing than SA.

lol .. are you even old enough to buy it?

Nah same difference. Games have age ratings based on their content like films, its there for a reason. I don't know about america but in the UK all the RE's and GTA type games have proper 18 certificates and rightly so. It shouldn't matter how mature the kid thinks he is the system's there for a reason. You wouldn't let a 15 year old drink a bottle of scoth or watch Night Of The Living Dead would you?

Why not, lol. Nah, I find it all depends on the person capability to handle the game. I agree with UK game sales by labeling them with age, but the American system ain't that bad. I mean, a kid should be able to tell what he can handle. Im 14, and I find I can play anything cause Im intelligent enough to know that I won't go on a roaring rampage! Oh, and to all the parents who complain bout their kids playing mature/violent games; DON'T BUY THE GAME FOR THEM!!

Actually, in regards to watching Night Of The Living Dead, I would. In regards to the alcohol, that is different because of the whole being able to get arrested for underage drinking. And that is not the reason the system is there, to stop kids from ever playing the games until they are old enough. The system is there so that parents know the content of the game or movie. If you go to an R-rated movie and are underage, you need a parent or guardian to be with you. What you are saying is so totalitarian. And, just for the record there are parents that will let their children have an alcoholic beverage as long as the parent is there. Even when they do that though, they do not let the kid get drunk, they might let them have one or two beers.

Edit: And just in case you're wondering, I am 21, so none of these ratings affects me, this is just my belief on the whole subject.

My point stands that parents are to blame. They pick up these games for kids when they don't even look at the age reccomendation (that is in reference to the content of the game it doesn't matter who buys it, people under a certain age aren't supposed to experience it). Then parents phone up radio shows and write to newspapers saying ''video games are murder simulations, think of the children, blah blah blah''.

I remember one time seeing this kid that looked about 13 trying to buy Vice City and RE: Remake which they obviously refused to serve him with. So his mom came up and said ''well whats wrong with it?'' and he replies ''nothing mom! its just a game!'', so she was like ''oh ok give it here I'll pay then''. Total ignorance, I really wanted to say something but it would have been rude.

Ok, but that is totally different than a parent buying the game or letting the child watch a movie that they know is rated R or Mature and for what reasons. From this post, it seems like youmight not have a problem with a parent that understands the rating system buying a game for the kid as long as the kid knows that it is just a game. The example you gave was pure ignorance on the parents part. Had the mom actually known what the game was or why it was rated what it was, it would be a different story.

When I have kids, I'll decide when I start letting them play and watch R-rated games and movies. Before I let them play though, I'm going to make sure they understand that it is just a game/movie and that it is not to be done in real life. I do not see any reason for a child not to be able to play a mature game (unless of course they are under 12 or so) if they understand that what they are playing is a game. As long as the parent knows what they are buying for their child, then they should not complain.

There are still games and movies you wouldn't want anyone under 17 to see heck even quite a number of adults wouldn't be able to handle what is in the movie or game.

Manhunt sickened a lot of people. Necromantic in which people have sex with dead bodies is a movie I wouldn't want people under the age of 21 to see. Even as an adult there is a lot of stuff I have no intereset in wanting to see again and the description from reviews has warned me away from a lot more. Tentacle rape from Japan is something I don't want to see. Well aside from one or two movies in which it is fairly mild. You have to read the reviews and content lables they often warn of a lot of the extreme stuff that would just gross you out if you weren't prepared or even if you are prepared you often never want to watch it further.

I turned 16 two weeks ago and I've been playing mature games since I was like 7. Games like Duke Nukem 3D I was playing even younger and my parents let me watch movies like terminator and robocop as long as I can remember. I think that as long as your parents stress the fact that all of these forms of entertainment are in fact fiction, there is no harm in it. I think being introduced to these things early has actually made me mature faster in one perspective.

Thats nice but what kid is going to admit or even know that he's not mature enough for a title? Of course you don't want to be told that your to young or limited to something else.

I'm 24 now and thinking about having kids for my wife. The real problem is that even if you don't agree to purchase an M rated title for your child and you do all the things that you think make you a good parent, the second he sleeps over at little johnny's it all goes out the window because his parents have no clue whats going on and Johnny has every M rated game that he can afford and we become just the unfair parents.

agreed, i think its accualy better for them to get used to it at a ypnger age. if they dont then once they get them they might obsess over them. kida like people who dont have a t.v and ocne they use a t.v their hooked..
