I am looking for games my dad can play, he doesnt like anything that involves too many buttons so I am leaning towards getting him the Namco classics or something similar, would that suit him? Are there any good puzzle games that he could enjoy? The only criteria is relative button simplicity or preferably the extensive use of the stylus which he really enjoys. All help appreciated.

I guess I'm an old gamer because i hadn't played video games in almost 20 years since i had my original nintendo system but anyway how old is your dad? I had researched the DS last year for a little kid and then ended up getting one myself...I can't say what he'd like but based on my own experience in the last year and your saying about the stylus use i'd have to recommend Elite beat Agents. It may not appeal to your dad and even if you check out the box etc. it may not seem like something he'd like but if he grew up with rock n roll but still likes a variety of pop music or is somewhat familiar with it the game itself is a blast. maybe read the reviews for it here and on the IGN site for more feedback on this. Another game that often appeals to adults is the brain Age series. Brain Age 2 just came out and it's not exactly puzzles but more think fast type of mental exercises. There are some puzzle games that have gotten good reviews like Puzzle Quest and Picross but for some reason i've passed on these maybe something in the 'one bad thing about the game' catagory that i read but maybe check out those reviews too. -but Elite beat Agents and Brain Age 2 I'd say might work. If you do get EBA you'll probably want to use headphones because the DS' speakers don't cut it for fidelity and probably another good idea is the Hori brand of screen protectors because this game is 100% stylus use. ---another thought or 2 might be mario kart which nintendo should just include when you buy a DS and 2 stylus intense games that are pretty good are Spiderman 3 and Star fox command ...not stronly recommending these but they are both good and do use the stylus extensively.

Get him Brain Games 2. It's fun and embarassing at the same time.

Likely he'll be pissed about his low scores and will try harder to understand the system and the game.

You can then introduce him to other games.

Pokemon is a no no, too long a game, I think short bursts are best. He already has Clubhouse Games and enjoys it. Brain Age is a great one to get him, will help alleviate the effects of those years!

People hardly ever mention about Clubhouse games that it's card games and board games in a video game format---I'm not saying it's not good but unless someone is looking for card games etc. to play in a video form it may not be what they're looking for.

guys we are talking about people whom first video games was in the Nintendo entertainment system. Pokemon is a complex game that I would be fun for people under the age of 28. and I doubt any of your dads would ever play Pokemon. For those older people just give them a game that is simple that wouldn't be so long either, that is why a collection of mini-games like Wario Ware:Touched! would be an ideal game. and I know card-games are good too but there are lots of older people who does find card games entertaining

yea pokemon was a joke though right? ---Clubhouse games might very well appeal to an older person or one of any age as long as they knew it was basically a bunch of card games in a video package. People usually don't mention that, maybe it's a given, but they always just say '42 great games in one package ' or something like that.

I guess I'm what most people would consider an older gamer myself and I've read several really good choices given to you so far. You mentioned your dad doesn't like the button-mashing games. What about games like Advance Wars, Hotel Dusk, or if he likes sports there's the new Tiger Woods 08 orMadden 08. I liked someone's idea to wait for the new Legend of Zelda next month, I know that's what I'm waiting for. Anyway, get your dad started slow and I'm sure once he becomes hooked like me he'll be playing games like Castlevania, Metroid or maybe even a little Tony Hawk. Or any Mario game, they're all fun. Good Luck

Thanks for all the help, I am getting him Brain Age 2 to start with, then I will throw in Advance Wars: Dual Strike since I already have it and he did once mention that he wants a strategy game of some kind. Once he gets the hang of those I will get a few puzzlers and who knows, we might have an addict on our hands!

I'm an older gamer and don't have time for deep storylines or anything like that anymore. I'd suggest the following:

Brain Age 1&2

Clubhouse Games

Tetris DS

Picross DS

Worms: Open Warfare 1&2

Mario vs Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis

These games are more-or-less pick up and play. They're all relatively easy to learn and have a good amount of depth to them. They're also really enjoyable in short spurts as well as long play sessions.

I'd try something turn based, advance wars, age of empires, or the new worms game are all good. It doesn't take anything to learn the controls and its not like you need quick reflexes, you just have to think things through.
