I'm new to Pokemon and I need to know...What are some good Pokemon to have and use in the Platinum Version?

Thanks for the help.

I enjoy electric pokemon, such as Electabuzz or Pikachu, though I believe your options are limited off the bat, so go with a Shinx. Electric pokemon, once high up, have powerful attacks that are pretty devastating to just about any pokemon. Fire pokemon are also really powerful once high up, so if you started with the Chimchar, you're good to go, if not, try to get a Magmar or any other you can find. Psychic pokemon are also very powerful if you use an abra/kadabra, then trade him to turn him into an Alakazam. Finally, ghost pokemon are also powerful with heavy-hitting attacks. I would use either a Misdreavus, a Gastly/Haunter/Gengar, or Duskull. You don't have to use any pokemon from any of these groups, but the best thing to do is set up a well balanced team from multiple types so you don't get caught off-guard.

First, you need a Munchlax. Then turn that 1 Munchlax into 6 Munchlaxes. At that point you have won the game and everything should be a piece of cake.

Get two Meowth, breed them so that they produce enough Meowth to outnumber the Munchlax.

In all seriousness, get Meowth because they're really quick.

In Platinum, i suggest starting out with Chimchar. You're not going to find very many fire type pokemon compared to all the water type and grass type pokemon youll find. Also try to catch an Abra/kadabra and a Ghastly.

Well, initially you need to make a good choice on the starter u start out with. I'd say Piplup is best for the beginners because of its very balanced move set. Catch starly and shinx, they will help you out in the beginning. Starly will take care of the bug pokemon at the beginning and Shinx evolves twice and will see you through right till the end. But be sure to catch more pokemon to add to your party.
