Hi all,

I need to shed a few pounds and was thinking that the Wii would be a good way to do it. But rather than Wii Fit type of things, I thought it would be more amusing playing an actual fun game.

An RPG where you actually swing your sword (wii remote) would be cool. If not that then platformers or another style of game would be fine.

If I can pretty much choose anything to get the blood flowing in my veins again, then please say so. :)

Thanks

I'd recommend dance game, particularly DDR. It can be difficult to get into, but if you dedicate yourself you can burn some serious calories. I used to do some thing like 600+ calories an hour with it. And not to mention, unlike with other exercise games DDR is an actual game that you can have fun with while playing.

The only games I can personally think of that would be like that are redsteel 2 and Zelda:SS. While I haven't played Redsteel 2 I'm assuming - like Zelda - that the aerobic intensity is nowhere near high enough to benefit from. If you want to play games like this your just better off playing them on a treadmill infront of the T.V.

I havn't tried any of the "workout" wii games but if you happen to have an xbox and kinect "whipeout" and "sonic freeriders" where 2 games that can really get your sweat on while still feeling like your actually playing a video game. Maybe i'm not suppose to recommend xbox games on the wii board but I can't imagine a system that can get by on wrist flicks be as effective as one that reads your entire body's movements. Good luck on whatever you end up deciding on.

I second this, there's no wrist flicking in DDR, you either hit your note or you don't. Its a great workout. Most of the wii dance games will give you a workout of some sort. Also, don't discount Wii Fit, the mini games are fun and you don't realize the muscles that are working until afterwards. Sports Resort is also a good one that will get you up and moving. I can't think of any RPGs that will give you any sort of workout.
