yes.. that would suck. Hopefully we get a good 2D Metroid on the DS, and im guessing that nintendo might decide to make a metroid fps online game (i hope not, but im thinking it might happen.. id rather have them make a new ip about that then taking samus just for online, ala Hunters). But honestly, i really dont know what they would do..
i dont think anyone should get there hopes up for another metriod on wii though, i highly doubt that it will happen, maybe next gen. I think gamecube was the only system to get 2 metriod games, hell n64 didnt even get one.

The DS got 2 Metroid games, but they were more like spinoffs from the actual formula (Pinball and Hunters). The GBA also got Fusion and Zero Mission. I'd like to see a 2D Metroid come to the DS.

I really, really think that the next Metroid will be a 2.5D "New Super Marios" style game. 3D environments/characters on a 2D plane, which I think would be awesome. After NSMB sold so well I can see Nintendo doing this with most or even all of their 2D games.
Since this is going to be the last Prime game my guess is that Nintendo will work with a different company than Retro, and will make a new game in a year or two.

I like the 3D versions better, and Metroid isnt going anywhere. Samus is a Nintendo icon, thats like saying DK wont see anymore games. Its just not going to happen.
More Metroid games definitely, but by Retro who knows ... I would honestly like to see Retro try something else since they've developed three spectacular games already, but maybe they can continue something they left off on, like their project called Raven Blade. Though it wouldn't surprise me to see a new Metroid game on the Wii ... I just hope it'll be as good as Prime is.
It's just Metroid Prime that's going. They can make another almost exactly like it. FPA or FPS and just have another main boss. It's not like they are going to have MP4 and Metroid Prime isn't even in it...
