I don't want any of the new features that come with the DSi or the 3DS. I'm only interesting in playing Pokemon and Dragon Quest when they come out. Is there a difference in graphic quality between the older DS and the Lite? When looking up prices of the Lite I was really surprised that they are still that much.. Anyway, just curious if there is a huge difference.

They're the same, but a Lite is better because of the brighter screens and sleek design.

The lite arguably looks worse at times because it is so bright and vibrant, that the colors stand out, showing the awfully pixelated grass in mario 64 :P. Still, the Lite is by far the way to go, although I reccomend waiting for the 3DS which is a whole new generation of handheld gaming, but can play DS games.

Well I got a little more money for Christmas that I was anticipating... So maybe I will wait for the 3DS. I have a 360 and a PS3 so I'd just feel bad if I put the money out on a brand new DS and then not use it much. A refurbished 1st gen DS is $69.99 and a refurb Lite is $99.99 at GameStop... Pretty reasonable I think. Not sure how much the 3DS is gonna be at the moment but I'm about to do some research.

Thanks for the responses so far.

the problem is youre looking at Gamestop systems. you can def get an original ds for less than $70 and a DS Lite for less than $100. You could probably get a DS Lite for $50 off Craigslist or Ebay

3DS is rumoured to cost around $250+. If you have the money and are looking to buy a system for the future and future use, then definitely wait for the 3DS. It will be backwards compatible with the current DS games too so you won't miss out on anything :D
