Yesterday I was definitly looking at Guitar Hero 3 and waiting till Christmas for Super Mario Galaxy. Today, I read some of the Previews and videos for Super Mario Galaxy and I got really pumped for it, but I still want GH3. I look at these as quals. GH#: online, endless replay value, more expensive, lots to do. Super Mario Galaxy: Immersive atmosphere, amazing art style, long and extremely fun game, lame Multiplayer. I really can't decide, so on the fence about this one, so hel me out, shoud I buy Super Mario Galaxy, or GH3?
if you have guitar hero 2, get mario galaxy. If you have super mario sunshine, get guitar hero 3. If you have neither, I would rather get guitar hero 3 myself, although it is more costly. I think it's online play and downloading features will lengthen its playtime immensly. also, I just like the guitar hero series more. In this installment, there will be more than 70 songs, tons of them original score, and there will be more to download! I don't know a lot about galaxy though. I say get guitar hero 3, and get Super smash bros brawl in february to satisfy the mario/classic game craving.
Galaxy will probably be the better game, HOWEVER GH is much much more addictive and will therefor keep you occupied until christmas, whereas i suspect Galaxy will be done with 2 weeks and while you'll probably want to replay it, after a few replays you'll get more and more bored, GH never gets boring, seriously, I've had 1 and 2half a year and I play it at least 5 hours a week and I'm not bored of it.

If you want a game you can sit around with all your friends and play, GH3 is the game to go for. If you want everything that a Mario game is, then go with Mario.
Personally, I would go with GH3 ... it's got alot more replay value, and you'll get more out of it up until Christmas, and then be yearning to play it again after you finish with Galaxy.
i have both, but it only took me about 3 or 4 days to get through mario galaxy. its not that long a game. mario 64 seemed like it took forever to finish. and even when i was playing it i yearned for more guitar hero time.
mario galaxy is the best game for wii no question.
