Just wait until later this year; your craving will be satisfied.Ā  I too, however, am dissapointed with developers saying that Wii owners want easy games as well as Miyamoto saying Wii owners don't enjoy epic games.

i don't understand why more games don't have adjustable difficulty settings, that way making everyone happy. i'm hoping that when they say Wii owners like easiness, they're refering to the controls only, like if the Wii remote was so finiky and complex that it would take days and days of playing to get the hang of, then fewer people would play. i'm hoping they're talking more along the lines of that as opposed to the depth and quality of the games themselves.

Yeah, but its hard to make a complex game when the controls are really simple.

I don't see why this surprises anyone. The Wii was never promoted as a machine for the hard-core. So far it has been targeted at families and casual gamers. I think maybe you should have looked elsewhere.

There are three games so far that might appeal to hard-core gamers, though they have not been released yet. Sadness, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, and Manhunt 2.

How do I tell if I'm playing a "hardcore" game? Do I need a special belt or anything?

They're games, enough with the "HARDCORZ ROX". Please, unless you get a paycheck for it at the end of the day this is your hobby and right now every single console has games that people want to play.Ā

before you complain you should have beaten zelda TP and SPM and also maybe trauma center or wario ware cause those are pretty much hardcore games now. if you have beaten all of those 100% then i guess you could say there arent enuff harcore games but until then idk.

Ā anyway later this year we will getĀ

metriod (hardcore)

mario galaxy (hardcore)

RE4 (harcore)

ssbb (very hardcore if you friends are good)

and a couple others. Ā

But that's exactly my point. It isn't all of a sudden. The target audience for the Wii was known from the very beginning. Besides, what is hard-core, anyway? Stress-inducing as games like Trauma Center seem pretty hard-core to me.

Why does this STUPID topic have to resurface every week.Ā  The system hasn't even been out for 6 months, and yet people who are claiming they are Hardcore games always say they feel neglected. Ā Ā  What is a hardcore game?Ā  Stop the stupid Hardcore does not equal micro/mini games statement, because there are more type of games than that for the Wii.Ā  Name a hard core game that is available for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Wii isn't built with hardcore gamers in mind. There will be a handful of epic games you can get your teeth into but Wii was built for new gamers and casuals.

You know that the real market is not on "hardcore" gamers. Hardcore gamers are in minority. Casual gamers are the mass. Right now, Wii is more casual than the PS3 or the 360.

Again,Ā canĀ someone tell what's an hardcore gamer? Ā

how can we say we are not being ignored!!we have developers out there talking nonsense and thinking 4 everybody...wich is my point...i never said there is no hardcore content coming to the wii...we got some do out this year.but what about after that??what if more and more devs start thinking like the others...its a possibility that many of us should be concerned about.

Define a film enthusiast and you'll probably find the same answere.

Pretty lame way to duck the question, which is a legitimate one. What's hardcore and what isn't is way too relative to each person to be defined, but the only constant I can think of is that they take longer to get through.Ā

Hardcore gamers aren't being ignored. The Wii's only been out for 5 months, and if there's one thing we've learned from both TP and SP3, it's that the longer a game is in development, the better it turns out. I don't expect any real long games to surface(other than 1st party) for a year or so, but that suits me just fine. It took about a year for good stuff to show up on 360. Consoles are investments, so you have to be able to wait them out.Ā

i've never understood why people think hardcore gaming is either lots and lots of shooters/online games, or just extremely long "epic" games.Ā  I would have figured that a hardcore gamer was someone highly into gaming, and that usually would also mean that they were into many forms of gaming.. if even just a little, enough to tryĀ them.Ā  Hence, a variety.Ā  Wii's got a great puzzle game in Trauma center, a great sports in Madden, an epic adventure in zelda, a humours rpg/platformerer in paper mario, a great minigame collection showing off the wiimote in both rayman and wario ware, and the virtual console which offers old games.

I'd say, for the first 5 or so months of a systems life, the wii is doing damn good.Ā  Not to mention, it's getting some intersting titles in the future like MP3, no more heroes, mario galaxy, smash bros, dewey's adventure and the like.

You're right hardcore gamers aren't being ignored, but the hardcore offerings are weak in supply and it will likely stay that way because of Wii's target audience. Even Miyamoto said Wii's audience doesn't want big epic games. Its just not marketed with hardcore gamers in mind, its just a fun little system and very unique.

The reason this is, is because they are 120% correct.Ā  Your mom dad and sister dont care about super death kill the 30 hour adventure.Ā  They care about being able to pick up the system for 15 minutes between american idol and 24 and play a game.Ā  That doesnt mean that a long adventure cant sell well, but the demographics for these games are much smaller, and the amount of time it takes to develop these games sometimes isnt worth the payout.

Ā

Unfortunately games like Okami which are amazing adventures, sell poorly because there isn't the right amount of people out there that want these games.Ā

You kind of have a point, which is a first for the wii forum. look back at the snes, pure hardcore gaming, then the n64 less so, the gamecube hardly, but did have ikaruga, and now the wii seems very geard towards younger people and casual gamers. we need something hardcore like an f-zero online, smash brothers or just something with a rediculasly hard mode. Mind you the VC does have some great games like Street Fighter 2 and Super Gouls and Ghosts which where hard core games. Out of all of Nintendos games most have to be aimed at people of all ages so it really will be down to if smash brothers is hardcore and if they ever announce an online f-zero.

There are several hardcore games coming. MP3, SSBB, SMG, RE4, No more Heroes, Sadness(at least I'm assuming due to the large amount of time they are spending), More Zelda, and then Disaster and Project HAMMER both look at least somewhat hardcore. The games are coming, we just have to wait. There will be more games that are casual, but nintendo know we4 exist and know that we are what fuels the sales( at launch an usually their new games.)

guys face it, thus far we are slightly overlooked.Ā  devs have said it and its been quoted!Ā  it is an issue, we as gamers can let devs kno that the hardcore audience is alive and well by simply buying hardcore games.Ā  when re4 comes out...buy it. let devs kno that the wii is a profitable console not only for the casual audience but also the hardcore enthusiast.Ā  re:uc and re4 are like test runs to see if the wii audience still has a taste for these games.Ā  i honestly believe this, i may get flamed but like i will state now and im sure ill be quoted, (yeasss, its just yous opinion) anyways it is my opinion.Ā  the only way we'll get more and more hardcore games (not just mp3, ssbb, etc) is by buying them as soon as they come, while devs are testing the wii market.

Anyone who's done mild research would know that Nintendo's targeting the casuals this year and the hardcore's later this year.

Nintendo has learned their mistakes from the DS, they almost lost the battle *obviously recovered though* to the PSP because they waited so long to advertise to the casual market. They tried the gamer market first, which is pretty hard for a launch system not having too many games. This time Nintendo is doing opposite. Right now they're advertising to the casuals with Wii Sports and what not, while later this year we're be getting Mario, Smash, Metroid, Fire Emblem, and other third party titles such as NiGHTS, DDR, Treasure Island Z, etc. Nintendo's confirmed 27 Wii titles in development for 2008, they can't all be for casuals simply because casuals don't buy that many games. It seems to me that more people are paying attention reading news and trying to convert with everyone, then actually looking at what titles are in development and looking back at history.Ā

Ā

We are be ignored.....for now, but later this year it will be a totally different situation.

nintendo is going for people who want fun, and don't care about graphics. in my opinion they have yet to deliver a game that lives up to this.Ā  warioware was an excellent attempt, but its still not a perfect 10.0.Ā

I find it very, very sad when people shovel the adjective "fun" into a "lesser" category of games.

Its a game. Its ONLY point is to be fun.

Your not a better person because you prefer long, involved, and possibly hard games over whimsical pick-up-and-play style games, nor does a lengthy story make a game contribute to your gaming skill more.

Trauma center and Warioware dodge the "hardcore" category? Excuse me? Those games both offer more skill-based challenge than just about anything on the market since ninja gaiden.

QFT, it's people like that who are destroying gaming IMHO.

More realistic more for your buck more features.

On-Rails=Bad?

Shinobi and Sonic and the Secret Rings disagree

2D games are inferior to 3D?

The Castlevania series disagrees

I just don't get why gamers now a days for some reason think the more complex the better.

I mean don't get me wrong I don't care what kinda game a game is as long as it's fun I'll play it.Ā

It's just that, I think it's funny because most of the games they diss "Trauma Center, Shoot-em-ups, Railgun Games *Apparent in RE:UC* Platformers , for being to simple or casual when they are just as if not more complex then the genres they were hoping for.

Just wait until later this year; your craving will be satisfied.Ā  I too, however, am dissapointed with developers saying that Wii owners want easy games as well as Miyamoto saying Wii owners don't enjoy epic games.stevenk4k5
since Wii owners like to talk about sales A LOT, let me just say this: why should he think otherwise when the key title for both GC and Wii desappointed sales wise?Ā

The games are coming.Ā  All systems are like this in the first year.

Nintendo also recently stated that they have 140 games in development between the Wii and DS.Ā  And that's just the first party stuff!Ā  They also said that many of those games are traditional core gamer types of games.Ā  Just try to be patient.Ā  The games are coming.
