I am a hard core nintendo fan just wanting to hear what other hardcore fans think about nintendo.

First off i think that the hardcore gamers are leaving nintendo, either because we are out growing it or two, they just are not coming out with the right stuff anymore. Yes I know SSBB and Metroid are coming out and i hope that those games will do it.

What ever happend to game like golden eye and Super metroid thats just a few. When i play Super metroid i get this dark more evil feeling to it but like fusion and the Prime games not so much. Also I have bought a ps3 and 360 just to get my hardcore fix on games.

The new mario, just doesnt look that awsome and i love all the old nes, snes and n64 ones. What happend to CLASSIC NINTENDO GAMES?!!!!!!!

Pish, I'm happy with my Wii. Also, Alien Syndrome = most underrated game.. EVER! I just came from my friends house and we just played it 8 hours straight. The begining sucks, but it gets really great if you stick with it and have more than one player.

What happened to classic Nintendo games? Why, they're on the VC of course!

EDIT: Okay, as a serious response: you're overreacting. The Big Three all look to be modern Ninty classics (especially SMG!). As a hardcore gamer I am more than satisfied with the Wii (although I supplement it with a gaming PC for my strategy and FPS fix).

So you're accusing the company of not producing enough sequels, then? Because they are most certainly doing that. For all the hype Nintendo likes to heap upon projects like Brain Age 2 and Wii Fit, the majority of their line-up consists of games like Battalion Wars 2, Fire Emblem, Phantom Hourglass... essentially the same games we've played before, that may or may not be re-imagined for their current installment. Nintendo's problem isn't a lack of traditional videogames. They're supplying them as fast as ever (which means very few during the first three quarters of the year, then everything at once leading up to Christmas). The problem is that they spend 95% of their time and resources on rehashes.

"When I play Super Metroid I get this dark more evil feeling" Dark does not mean hardcore. In fact, as i've gotten older i have realized that these so called "darker" games are actually much more immature, yetlabled as "mature" games. Tome the word "mature" is the new juvenile.

Exactly the same here, and BWii is gonna rock. Ah yes, BWii, nobodys mentioned that, that will be a brilliant game, and although not exactly hardcore if you want to you can go for 100% on every mission, which is very hardcore. And then there's the new MoH game, although it won't be exclusive or groundbreaking but it will have 32 player online with the Wii's fantastic controls. There's plenty of hardocre stuff to look forward to, just look a ltitle harder. Oh yeah, and if your 'outgrowing' Nintendo games then remember to try out No More Heroes, that will be awesome and quite mature. Theres tons to look forward to, but I will now go and find a magazine so i can rant about nintendo...

Same here in a way SMG doesn't look to crash hot for me and I would love to see another Super Mario 64 but I'm sure Galaxy will pull though. I preordered it and everything still but it looks a bit more causal friendly, THANK GOD retro's making Metorid.

The only reason I got a 360 was for RE5 and a few other games. I also have a Wii and I play all the classic games on it. I find myself doing that more than I play 360. So I can say that i'm still a huge Nintendo fan.

You're not outgowing them in the terminology you're thinking of. You're outgrowing them as in, 'I've played Nintendo's style of gaming for years, and I want to try something else for awhile'. I love Nintendo, but I still like Halo and Ratchet better because it's a nice change of pace from what I've been playing all my life. I'm a Nintendo fan because of the Good game/Bad game ratio. I would have gotten a 360 if it weren't for the insurance that there would be plenty of good games for the Wii.

First of all, I think your assumption that high powered consoles and graphics make it hardcore are wrong. Secondly I also disagree with your take on Fusion and the Prime's. Those Metroids are some of the best, and hardcore games. Finally, I am a hardcore Nintendo fan and not a fanboy as well, and while I do agree that Nintendo can do more for us, I say give them time.

The Wii has only been out for around nine months. I'm not sure what you're expecting from them, give them time. Great games take time to make. I think Super Mario Galaxy will be awesome, and Fire Emblem: GOD and SMG are being made for Nintendo's hardcore fans.

I was but still in my heart an hybrid Nintendo/Sega hardcore fan. I was neutral when the SNES and Sega Genesis battles each other.

However, I'm not a fanboy. It's just what I see on the 360 or on the PS3 don't interested me. The more it's "dark, epic, and mature" the more it doesn't interested me. I'm sick of FPS. It's kind of the best genre ever made of the American while I think it's the most overrated genre ever made.

I'm a die-hard Nintendo fan and I am loving the Wii. Maybe it's just me, but I have definitely grown out of all the shooters that the 360/PS3 keep putting out. The only thing that would make me consider buying another 360 (sold my first one) is Mass Effect. If Super Mario Galaxy doesn't look like a classic Nintendo game then I don't know what to tell you, maybe the Wii just isn't for you.

i played the japanese legend of zelda:phantom hourglass.. and let me tell you, that game single handedly restored what little faith i had lost in nintnedo this gen. Cause i thoughtit was the best handheld game i have ever played, and i can totally see there new titles be just as good, and exceed my expectations.

The classic Nintendo games are back on the classic Nintendo, you need to stop living in the past. Anyway Nintendo are making the same great franchises, but you dont want to let go of what is past and gone. That is a problem for you to deal with, not one for Nintendo or anyone else for that matter. Also it sounds like you dont even have a good view of what hardcore is.

1) Games take longer to make than they used to

2) If you want good nintendo games you have to wait for all the first party ones to come out

3) We are just at the begining of the cycle, Wii has only begun (its not even Fall yet)

4) Originally it was predicted the Wii would be third place (so game makers have just begun making those great games for the system)

5) The Wii is going to have a stream of good games in a year or two (because of its demand)

6) Go buy an Xbox 360 if you want "hardcore games" now

7) A real hardcore gamer plays classic games like Metroid and Super Mario World

8 ) Not all games are created equal

9) Eat fast food, play videogames and get fat

10) And yes if you've played nothing but Nintendo Games till now go try new things.

11a) Smell the Roses, get a PS2, play some PC games, get some exercise and go learn something.

11b) Live a peaceful life free of 'violent videogames' alongside Jack Thompson (jk)

12) Give up on gaming altogether (as you never liked Micro$oft or $ony anyway and you feel Nintendo has betrayed you)

So I take it "hardcore" equals "online first-person shooter?" I'm pretty much over the whole shooter thing. How many times can you really replay the Doom, Quake, and Halo clones that are pouring onto the market?

But will the online be good? Would it have a good lobby system, friend lists devoid of 16 digit friend codes, voice chat, andlot's of modes, and other good online game stuff? Also on the other hand if you were a big company president wouldn't you look for the easiest way to make money? The easy way being non-hardcore players? A rehash of Brain Age or a re-release of SMB is easier to do than make another great Nintendo game. BTW you guys forgot No More Heroes!!!!!!!!

I completely agree with the original post. I have not yet purchasd my next gen system athough it will likely be the wii if I even am a gamer this generation. Nintento seems to think that they can satisfy their older fans with the same franchises. The things that would make me buy the wii would be rayman (1 and 2), MP3, SSBB, and TP.
I personally agree with the original poster on SMG because it does look like it would be fun, but it looks like SM64 in space where your only attack is a spin (I haven't seen a single punch or slide in all the videos). The lack of these attacks makes me wonder if it's they're unwilling to map an attack cue to a button. It seems to me that Nintendo is basically relying on the Wiimote for this generation. Granted ths isn't a bad idea, but it shows a relative inability to be flexible on their part and use all their control functions. I haven't seen a single game worth while that uses the clasic controller except for the clasic arcade.
My predictions for this generation are simple, Nintendo will win, plain and simple, they will sell more consoles because they're expanding the market and selling to new gamers. PS3 is likely going to fail because in a few years it will have its exclusive 3rd party titles being lost completely to Microsoft because it just doesn't have enough of the market to justify the costs assosciated with making a game. Microsoft will be in second, BUT, it will hve the best games because gaming, in my opinion is a new stage in story telling, just as books and songs are. Microsoft's games are made by those who have a story to tell and have the visual capabilities to make that story come to life. Aside from their 1st party games, what games for Nintendo are truely epic. When you look back in a few years, unless my predictins are totally false, Nintendo wil have great games that you'll say were fun to play at the time, and Microsoft will have games that you look back on and remember for how truely spectacular in all aspects they were. There are only so many 1st party sequils and party games that one can take, but there are an infinite number of stories to tell and new franchises to creat, and right now it looks like it'll be Microsoft that will bring you those.
Plus Nintendo just can't seem to figure out what to do to give a full, emersive online experience without constantly having to add on things that their competitors alreeady have. These games that Nintendo is releasing are unable to stand the test of time because 3rd party developers dont know how to make a game that is good without the controls, except madden and COD, mabe others. I mean seriously, Dragon Blaade? It's a button masher with terrible looking bosses, (see water dragon, water dragon my ass. Water dragons are serpents in the mythology that they're adapting.) and yet it gets some hype just because of its controls and people will buy it for the same reason.
Just compare high scores come christmas time and remove the Wii scores that are on virtual console and rehashed cube games to see my point. Nintendo's problems are easy to fix, (better online and more emersive/epic games), but it seems like everyone is expecting them to fix them when there is no sign that they will. I might go to far on some of this, but some of it is also true, and if you can't admit that then your a fan boy and shouldn't be in this thread anyway. Plus, for the record, I want to be wrong. I've played Nintendo games since I was seven.
Sorry for the Length.Forgot aobut SSBB's 4 control options, but it is 1st party. Hopefully others will fallow in suit.
