I'm not sure how many other people agree, but I'm pretty fed up of the lack of hardcore games out there for the Wii, especially from third parties. I became especially annoyed when I read the reason why we wouldn't be receiving a Wii edition of Silent Hill: Homecoming.
It's not even annoyance about not getting that particular game, but the fact that we keep missing out, with either no release (Civilisation Evolution) or a watered down release (Rock Band). There is some hope out there, but currently only from people like High Voltage and there upcoming release, The Conduit.
I just want to know what other people think about the fact the Wii has a control system so amazing that it's arguably better than the keyboard and mouse (why it's still seen as a gimmick I don't know) and when an amazing game comes along is better than anything else (Res Evil 4, Super Smash Bros etc) but just isn't getting the games.
Is anybody else fed up of seeing the games they want to play going to the consoles they don't want to own?

Sort of. I wanted Burnout Paradise on the Wii back when it came out. But really, the Wii has more than enough games to keep me satisfied as it is.

This is the nature of a three horse race. When Nintendo was the main (or only) console, this wasn't an issue. Now that video games are so popular and lucrative that three different consoles can be supported, each will spend their money on exclusives. Which means some people are SOL. Thats life.

I am just holding out for the time when maybe quality games that have been in production for a while start coming out for the Wii, does take a while for games to be written and released and maybe it is now getting to the point where finally we are going to see a lot more 3rd party titles that are of a high quality. Just hope that this is going to happen and once started there will be a regular stream of top games and not constant mini game collections.

Don't get me wrong, there is space on any console for all types of games for all age ranges but at the moment (apart from a handful of titles) things do seem to be vastly weighted to the younger/family audience. The DS can manage to handle all areas and I feel that the Wii will get there eventually.

I am sad of the fact that there isn't a Silent hill game for the wii, or a Metal gear solid spin-off

other than that, I can wait for good looking wii games (fragile, conduit etc...)

I think I get mad a little more about, as you worded it, watered down versions of games, like rockband or the crappy wii spider-man 3 game. Obviously you can't get all the games that come out for any system, just like I would love to get the new Banjo-Kazooie game, but can't 'cause it's for the x-box. But it works both ways because i'm sure x-box/ps3 owners would love to have TP or galaxy but can't.

I'm seeing a lot for the hardcore.
- RE4
- Battalion Wars 2
- Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
- RE:UC
- The Godfather
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl
- Mario Kart Wii
- Zack and Wiki
- Super Paper Mario
- Super Mario Galaxy
- Sonic and The Secret Rings
- Okami
- MLB Power Pros, 2008
- Mario Strikers: Charged
- Bully:Scholarship Edition
- Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock
- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Those are games that could easily appeal to hardcore gamers. For Future games, there is much to look forward to.
- De Blob
- Fraglie
- Kizuna
- The Conduit
- Little King's Story
- Tales of Symphona: Dawn of a New World
- Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (Which, IGN Wii is saying is actually good)
- Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars
- MadWorld
- Fatal Frame IV
- ETC.

There are a lot more future titles coming out -- just look at the sticky at the top. "hardcore" games are out there -- people just see that its not 'nintendo' and they ignore.

You know that people who have a 360 or PS3 are complaining that they don't get the exclusives that Nintendo has. They don't get Mario, Link, Metriod, Brawl, Kart, No more Hereos, Madworld, BWii, Fatal Frame, Mushroom Men, Fire Emblem, TOS 2, Sadness, Cursed Mountain etc..... Not to mention that we get the best control scheme for gaming since the Keyboard and mouse.

People who play games because they are cool, and only have a 360 with like 5 games, (Halo, GTA, COD,) they are not hardcore gamers. Real gamers play games because they are awesome, no matter what system they are on. there are plenty of hardcore games out for the Wii.

Lolz at the suggestion SMG is hardcore, it removed all the hardcore elements of previous Mario games. All of Nintendo's first party titles have just been pathetically easy, they would of annoyed me as a child because how patronising SMG in particular is. I think they're more designed at getting parents who have no familiartiy with games to play them as opposed to aiming at children.

I just don't get Nintendo anymore. If they want the Wii to have more hardcore games then why don't they fund developers to make games for them like both Sony and Microsoft do? They've done it with Suda 41, getting him involved in projects for the Wii. Why not get Atlus to publish some dungeon crawlers or a PC developer to port some tactical shooters or annything instead of endless shovelware and games aimed at families. I'm just getting bored of waiting for games for my Wii, I waited ages for NMH which was awesome but now I'm waiting like another 6 months for Conduit and Tales.

Look, it's simple: The Wii is not Sony or Microsoft, so stop asking for it to be. Accept it as it is. Accept that the Wii's lune-up will possibly be never as good as PS3's or 360's.If you want Burnout, buy another console. The Wii has it's own thing going, and I don't see it changing.

The whole point of the Wii is so that it doesnt get the same games as PS3 or Xbox 360 that's what crippled the Gamecube, there were a few exclusives like Nintendos games, Rogue Leader, Resident Evil and so on but when it came to third party games - which were pretty strong last gen - people opted to get the superior version on the Xbox or the cheaper version on the PS2.

Honestly, I don't really every say to myself. THIS GAME IS GOING TO BE AWESOME ON THE WII! I don't want BO: Paradise City on the Wii. I don't really care of Silent Hill comes out for the Wii. Wanna know why? - This will blow your mind - BECAUSE IT WILL BE BETTER ON THE CONSOLES THE GENRE AND SERIES IT WAS MADE FOR!

My entire Wii Collection is WII only games. I bought the wii because it would have games specifically developed to be motion/virtual to the game.

No More Heroes for example. If you want hardcore either wait for it or get another console.

The definition of "hardcore" - having an extreme dedication to a certain activity, i.e a "diehard" fan.

The definition of a hardcore GAMER - having an extreme dedication to video games (meaning ALL video games, not just one genre or being one who is a console-specific twit!).

If you play HALO extensively, you are a Hardcore HALO gamer.

Play Super Mario religiously? Hardcore Mario gamer.

Play only Xbox 360? Hardcore 360 gamer.

Sit on a message board all day complaining about a system not having enough "hardcore games"? You ARE A "BOARDY" AND NOT A GAMER AT ALL!

See where this is going?

You are NOT a "Hardcore Gamer" unless you dedicate time and effort into ALL forms gaming. If you sit in your parents basement 24 hours a day, 7 days a week playing World of Warcraft, your ARE NOT a "hardcore gamer". You're a hardcore WoW fan. Same goes for any RPG, FPS, Platformer, Action-Adventure, Cooking, Racing, Sports, Rythym, Flight-Sim, Retro, M-rated, T-rated, AO-rated, what-have-you game. If play only one or two types of games religiously and consider yourself a "hardcore gamer", you ARE WRONG! The only way to attain the profile of a true "hardcore gamer" is to devote your time to ALL aspects of the gaming medium. Not just one type of game or console. End of discussion!

If you're wondering why I kept putting quotation marks around "hardcore gamer", its because i think this whole "casual/harcore" concept that popped up in the last 2 years is senseless, moronic hyberbole designed by some marketing twits somewhere because they couldn't figure out a better way to appeal to certain demographics when it came time to create a new video game. There was no need for these putrid discussions when gaming started and its needed even less now.

In my humble opinion (because mine, like yours, is the ONLY one that's right), if you play games at all, you are a gamer. Pure and simple.

Please stop infecting every message board on the internet with this "casual/hardcore" vomit! Either play video games and enjoy yourselves or get into politics where your kind of ranting could actually contribute something to society.

Call me hypocritical for this rant if you want. I agree wholeheartedly and don't really care. This is something that needs to be cleared up and put to rest, so there you have it.

Thanks! ;)

ive wanted to say this but been to lazy.

a little bit of reseached before u purchased the wii would have allowed u to perdict that something similar to this would happen. There are also many directed for a more core aduince on the way. all it would take is to go back a few pages on these forums to see that. and if the lack of wii games is bothering u that much the arcade version of the 360 just dropped to $199 I plan on purchasing that to play all the games ive missed out on this year

Battalion Wars 2 is not hardcore...compare it to real hardcore strategy games and it looks like solitare. Its an ok game but too simple to be hardcore. Replace it on your list with No More Heroes

Hardcore doesnt = gore. Getting 242 stars in SMG is more hardcore then just beating Gears of War. I have 31 games for my Wii, not to mention 17 VC/Wiiware and 11 GC games. I am the only one of my friends that has a Wii. 6 of them have 360s. And i have more games for my Wii then they all have combined. And i still find them coming out all the time to play SMG or Brawl. But i can't even go play COD-4 with them. They even admit that COD-4 is better on my PC then their 360s.

360 and PS3 are just watered down PC's. I dont miss much having a Wii/PC. I dont care where the game is, as long as it is good.

you want burnout revenge get a 360

wii does not need everything ps3 and 360 has,

if it did no one would buy it any way so it wouldnt be usefull for nintendo, just like last gen

and possibly the gen before that

how can you not want to own a 360 much less cant afford one , the arcade is now cheaper then a wii ,

so ya you want the other games its been said so many times its so sad people dont understand youll need 2 consoles at least to get almost everything thats made, wii would be the best 1st or 2nd choice ,

then you decide on ps3 360 based on exclusives as all 3rd party games come to it,

and if you like you can get both a ps3 and 360 for the launch price of a ps3 , if you get the arcade version , and the cheapest ps3

but im not complaining since i have all 3

and even if had just wii , i still enjoy wii more then ps3 and slightly more then 360 burnout revenge was better then paradise,

Yea im kinda fed up too. Thats why im getting a 360 because there are a couple of awsome wii games a year but overall they are gimmicky. The 360 will hold me over untill wii sports 2:D.
